The debut of Season 1 for Marvel Rivals will kick off by introducing two fresh characters: Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman, marking the initial introduction of half of the Fantastic Four.
Although they already have appealing standard versions, NetEase is additionally providing character skins inspired by their comic book villain counterparts – to clarify, this does not imply a Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) Doctor Doom skin.
The Maker and Malice
According to the official announcement from NetEase, I’m thrilled to share that the darker sides of Mr. Fantastic – The Maker – and Invisible Woman – Malice, will be making an appearance in our universe. Let me give you a sneak peek into who The Maker might be:
… and here’s the reveal for Sue’s evil variant:
While both are iconic pairs from Marvel comics, it’s worth noting that only the Maker has had a significant impact in the storylines. In the comic books, his actions included colliding two Earths, an event that brought parallel dimensions together and ultimately led to the death of all inhabitants on each planet.
Conversely, Malice emerged as Sue’s malevolent alter ego during the 1960s. This dark side of Sue’s character was supposedly awakened by Psycho-Man when she was emotionally unstable. Malice is often mentioned and has even been assumed by others, such as Nakia, who is Black Panther’s love interest.
How To Get the Maker and Malice Skins
In Season 1 of Marvel Rivals, players will receive free costumes, but unfortunately, neither The Maker nor Malice will be among them. Instead, to obtain these skins, you’ll need to head over to the Marvel Rivals digital store and spend Lattice, which is the in-game currency. As of now, we don’t know the exact prices for these skins, but based on past releases, they are likely to cost around 1800-2200 Lattice each.
Unfortunately, I have to acknowledge that you can’t get the skins for free in this game. However, it offers Lattice as an alternative for players, but earning enough Lattice requires considerable effort (grinding) and may still not be sufficient to buy expensive cosmetics.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but notice that throughout the year, the items might cycle through the store, potentially including the skins, which could eventually go on sale for a more affordable price.
Despite being a free-to-play title, Marvel Rivals‘ cosmetic items were anticipated to be expensive, given the company’s strategy of recouping their investments from such games, which are accessible to all players.
Fantastic Season 1
Reed and Sue make up half of the Fantastic Four squad, with plans for a fully assembled team by the end of the season.
It’s anticipated that Johnny Storm (also known as Human Torch) and Ben Grimm (known as The Thing) will join our game later in the season. Additionally, there’s a strong possibility that they’ll bring some premium cosmetic items when they arrive.
It’s likely that there will be more affordable options available for players looking to mix up the appearances of their characters with new skin choices.
Starting January 10th, the first season of Marvel Rivals will officially debut! Currently, you can play this exciting game on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, or your personal computer.
