The fierce competition for unique popcorn containers persists without slowing down. Nowadays, it’s hard to launch a blockbuster movie without offering related merchandise, and what was once exclusive to theme parks like Disney and Universal is now commonplace in cinemas. Nevertheless, I haven’t seen any of them as charming as the one coming with the remake of How to Train Your Dragon.
It’s not exactly a surprise to see that the popcorn bucket for the live-action How to Train Your Dragon is all about Toothless, but I’m not sure anybody expected the bucket to be this adorable. In the short look posted to Instagram, Toothless’ head pops open and his mouth is full of popcorn. Of course, it makes me feel like I’m stealing his popcorn, and why would I do that to somebody so cute?

It’s apparent that the appeal of this novelty popcorn bucket extends beyond just its contents, as it makes an attractive addition to any shelf. My kids have already shown interest in my Disneyland buckets, and I can guarantee they won’t be able to resist this one. In terms of cuteness, only Dave Filoni’s concept for a Grogu popcorn bucket could potentially surpass this design.
Given that movie theater popcorn containers originated from theme parks, it’s not surprising to find a nearly identical container available for purchase within Universal Orlando’s latest theme park, Epic Universe. One of the lands in the park, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, offers its own version of the Toothless bucket, which illuminates and stores popcorn inside an egg that resembles Toothless sitting on it.
If there’s one disadvantage, it’s that the size of the popcorn bucket is hard to gauge, and it doesn’t seem particularly large. However, I require my popcorn bucket to accommodate a substantial amount of popcorn since I’ll likely be watching a two-hour movie. Although its cuteness is a plus, it still needs to perform its role as a popcorn container effectively. In other words, it should have enough capacity to hold enough popcorn to last me throughout the film.
This summer promises an exciting clash between endearing characters and irresistible popcorn containers at the cinemas! The live-action reboot of “How to Train Your Dragon” hits theaters only a fortnight after the debut of the live-action remake of “Lilo & Stitch”, and while the design for the popcorn container remains unveiled, it’s safe to assume it will be inspired by everyone’s beloved blue rascal.
It’s evident that Dean DeBlois, being the creator of both “How to Train Your Dragon” and “Lilo & Stitch,” is poised for a successful summer in the film industry – provided, of course, that moviegoers with a taste for popcorn are just as enthusiastic!
