As a die-hard Avatar fan, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the next installment in this epic franchise for a full decade! But instead of waiting another nine years, we’ll be able to dive back into Pandora with “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” the third film set to release much sooner. While details about Avatar 3 have been scarce, recent updates give us tantalizing glimpses into how our beloved characters’ stories will unfold further.
In “Avatar: The Way of Water,” we were introduced to Spider, a character who is the son of Quaritch, played by Stephen Lang. Having been brought up on Pandora by the Sully family, Spider finds himself in a predicament where he’s torn between two worlds. With his biological father and the events of the next film potentially forcing them closer together, as hinted by Stephen Lang to Empire, the outcome might not bode well for our heroic characters. According to Lang…
They reunite due to compulsion. Their relationship isn’t solitary; there are instances where everyone unites on some degree. However, when adversaries work together, expect treachery to follow closely.
In the narrative of Empire, there’s a scene where an illustration pairs Quaritch and Spider, both confined in a cell similar to the one Spider later occupies after capture by Quaritch’s troops in The Way of Water. Quaritch is seen engaging with the boy, yet Spider turns his back on Quaritch, indicating his unwillingness to heed his words.
At the conclusion of “Avatar: The Way of Water,” Spider chose to stay with the Sully family, a decision made after rescuing Quaritch from drowning and narrowly escaping Neytiri’s wrath. It is evident that the families will experience some level of division in the aftermath of the previous film’s events.
According to Lang’s explanation, it appears possible that Spider might eventually pay attention to Quaritch’s words. This could happen because Quaritch, being a clone of Spider’s father, might take on some form of paternal responsibility. It seems like Quaritch might develop feelings for Spider, but whether these feelings are beneficial or not remains uncertain. Lang went on…
Spider puzzles Quaritch, yet Quaritch yearns for understanding. There’s something about Spider that intrigues Quaritch in an unexpected way – not a feeling typically associated with him. I suspect that respect and admiration grow significantly, as well as feelings of animosity and manipulation. The bond between them will become stronger – whether it brings more good or more ill remains to be seen.
It’s intriguing to explore how the dynamic between Quaritch and Spider might influence the narrative, as we anticipate the storyline to revolve around Jake Sully and his kin encountering a new Na’vi tribe residing in an active volcanic region of Pandora. Given hints throughout, it seems this tribe may be less welcoming compared to the Na’vi we’ve previously encountered.
Fire and Ash”, set to release in theaters in December, is likely to be one of the top-grossing films of the year. Naturally, fans are eagerly awaiting the chance to watch it.
