2005’s movie “Bunty Aur Babli” has been celebrated as a cult favorite for nearly two decades now, thanks to its engaging plot, witty dialogues, stellar cast, catchy soundtrack, and numerous other appealing aspects. The film features Abhishek Bachchan in the main role alongside Rani Mukerji. Interestingly, Abhishek wasn’t the original choice for this role; Hrithik Roshan was initially selected to play Bunty Aur Babli. However, he hesitated to enter the small-town setting at that point in time. Eventually, Hrithik defied his personal rule and delivered an exceptional performance in “Super 30” instead.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Shaad Ali, the director of Bunty Aur Babli, revealed that Hrithik Roshan was initially chosen for the role originally intended for Abhishek Bachchan in the film. He further disclosed that Rakesh Roshan, Hrithik’s father, appreciated the script and desired his son to accept the offer. However, Shaad Ali mentioned that Hrithik wasn’t keen on taking on small-town characters at that point in time, but he performed admirably in such a role in Super 30 (2019). He had some reservations about it back then.
In addition to revealing details, Shaad mentioned that it was Hrithik Roshan who originally conceptualized the film, and his suggestion was that the duo should once again engage in trickery during the final scene. Expounding on this, Hrithik explained that they are similar to Superman, so it wouldn’t be fitting for them to resume their normal lives. Instead, it was essential for them to re-enter the world of deception.
The movie creator revealed that the first idea for Bunty Aur Babli concluded with the pair being freed and deciding to live honestly. Moreover, he acknowledged that Hrithik played a significant role in shaping the movie’s course.
Shaad Ali has confessed that he hasn’t had a chance to see Bunty Aur Babli 2 yet. In conversation, he added that there’s no specific reason for this absence, but he was preoccupied with filming at the time of its release. He mentioned that he intends to catch up with the movie online at some point in the future.
