- Huntbound is a 2D indie monster hunter riff, now revamped
- Version 3.0 offers remastered visuals, UI and gameplay
- A new meta progression system keeps the fun going with upgrades and skill refinements
Many independent games out there often build upon established ideas, and Huntbound is no exception. It’s hard not to notice some strong influences from a well-known monster-hunting franchise. However, this doesn’t mean Huntbound lacks merit; quite the contrary! Its version 3.0 update brings significant improvements that significantly enhance this intriguing indie game!
As a gamer, I can say Huntbound feels remarkably similar to Monster Hunter. It’s all about locating and taking down dangerous creatures scattered across a vast map. Whether you venture out alone or team up with other players, the goal remains the same: defeat these beasts. Once vanquished, they drop valuable materials which I then use to craft better gear for my next hunt.
In version 3.0 of Huntbound, you’ll find significant enhancements to the game’s basic yet effective structure. This update brings a complete makeover to the gameplay, including smoother controls and improvements in artwork, user interface, and visual effects for a more polished gaming experience.

Apart from the usual updates, you’ll also find exciting changes like reworked monsters, maps, and a more polished progression system. Expect a new gear upgrade system, varied loot qualities, and enhanced skills designed to enrich your experience in this low-fi interpretation of the genre.
It’s great to observe the Tao Team members putting their best effort into polishing Huntbound. I can understand why such a release would be attractive, given that Monster Hunter requires a significant investment of time from players to finish. Therefore, making it speedier, smoother, and (ideally) more enjoyable seems like a shrewd decision.
However, should Huntbound not grab your attention, there are numerous alternatives available for your gaming pleasure this weekend. Consider exploring our curated list of the top 5 latest mobile games launched this week and find one that appeals to you!
