Minor spoilers for both The Tomorrow War and Fast X are down below!
A multitude of exceptional action films are available, with some truly massive ones debuting recently, such as “The Tomorrow War” from Amazon Studios and the newest addition to the “Fast and Furious” series, “Fast X”. It goes without saying that when these movies were released, a sequel was inevitable. Now, the screenwriter Zach Dean, who contributed to both films, has shared updates on their upcoming sequels that we’ve been eagerly anticipating.
I recently got an opportunity to chat with Zach Dean, the writer of the upcoming Apple TV+ film titled “The Gorge“, about potential updates on two of his other projects – “The Tomorrow War 2” and “Fast XI“. Here’s what he shared regarding both films, and the news is certainly exciting!
1. Here’s a rephrase for easier comprehension: I’ve written the draft for The Tomorrow War 2. Right now, they are working on it, so things are progressing. As for Fast and Furious, we have a meeting scheduled for tomorrow – it’s definitely happening!
Dean singlehandedly penned the screenplay for “The Tomorrow War,” one of the most popular movies ever streamed on Amazon Prime – an achievement noteworthy for a platform known for releasing films and shows that consistently attract large audiences. Moreover, the all-star cast of “The Tomorrow War” undeniably contributed to its massive viewership, thanks to its action-packed narrative.
Learning that The Tomorrow War 2 is progressing is genuinely exciting news. So far, there isn’t much information available about the film, and it has been approximately four years since its premiere. This tidbit of information brings a glimmer of hope that we can expect further exploration of the universe, thrilling sci-fi action sequences, and the intriguing time-travel element that made the original so appealing.
Speaking as a dedicated fan, I was thrilled to learn that Zach Dean joined forces with Dan Mazeau and Justin Lin during the scripting phase for Fast X. This extraordinary collaboration culminated in a blockbuster success, raking in over $700 million – a feat we all expected, given the enduring popularity of the Fast & Furious franchise. The announcement of Fast & Furious 11 was inevitable, following its impressive box office performance. With each instalment, these movies consistently deliver, regardless of the circumstances. To top it off, the tantalizing Fast X credits scenes serve not only to progress the story but also to tantalize us with glimpses of what’s in store for the future.
Beyond this, the influence of the Fast and Furious series has led to numerous hints from some of the co-stars of the upcoming Fast and Furious 11, or colloquially referred to as Fast X Part 2. The lead actor, Vin Diesel, frequently teases the next installment, with the number of Instagram posts about cars he shares potentially filling an entire article.
Although we’ve seen enough sneak peeks, our patience is starting to wear thin. Now that it’s public knowledge that Dean has discussed the plot for Fast XI, I have a hunch we’ll be receiving a lot more updates about the next installment soon. Stay tuned for further details, though I suspect it won’t make it onto the 2025 movie calendar – but one can always hope!
At present, as we anticipate, don’t forget to explore “The Gorge” once it debuts on your Apple TV+, especially if you’re in search of captivating sci-fi content from the screenwriter. It’s set to release on February 14, making it an excellent choice for a romantic Valentine’s Day evening.
