For several months now, the cost of eggs has been a hot topic in political discussions, mainly due to an avian flu outbreak that’s decreased egg supply in the U.S. Consequently, finding eggs and affording them has become quite challenging. Interestingly, it seems there’s one location offering a reasonable price for a dozen eggs: Walt Disney World.
Typically, when discussing pricing at Walt Disney World, the focus is usually on its high cost. Prices at this ‘Vacation Kingdom’ seem to be perpetually increasing, with many things that were previously free now requiring payment. Interestingly enough, a recent observation made on Reddit highlighted that the Saratoga Springs Resort offers relatively affordable eggs, priced at $5.49 for a dozen. Indeed, it’s noteworthy!
It’s a strange world when the price of eggs at WDW is lower than my local grocery store!
It’s only natural that prices tend to be higher when you don’t have many options, like in a restaurant or theme park. For instance, a bottle of wine usually costs more there than it does in a store. And as for the price of a slice of cake at places like Disney World, let’s not go there!
Given the sky-high egg prices across most places currently, it’s surprising that the cost of eggs at Disney World isn’t comparable to purchasing a Disney World Lightning Lane pass for a day. As you can see in the image from the Reddit post, the Artist’s Palette Shop at Saratoga Springs is charging an exorbitant price for bacon, which makes the affordable cost of eggs even more puzzling.
Generally speaking, we’re prepared to pay premium prices for a Disney World visit, understanding that costs will be higher on-site. It’s refreshing to find something not overpriced, and it would be beneficial if a few more affordably priced items were available to offset the costs of other aspects.
Indeed, it may come as a surprise to some that Walt Disney World offers eggs for sale. The Saratoga Springs Resort, being part of Disney Vacation Club – Disney’s timeshare program, features condo-style accommodations equipped with small kitchenettes. This is convenient for guests who prefer cooking their own meals in the room instead of dining at Disney World restaurants every evening.
Without a reservation for either a room or a meal at a Disney World hotel, it’s somewhat unpredictable if you’ll be allowed entry. If you live nearby and find yourself in need of eggs, it might be advantageous to drop by and purchase some before the price increases, which it likely will.
