‘I Didn’t Even Get To Keep My Wardrobe’: Henry Winkler Recalls Joining Adam Sandler‘s The Waterboy Last Minute And Jokes About Receiving Only One Thing For His Troubles

As a seasoned gamer who’s spent countless hours immersed in the world of movies, I can’t help but feel a pang of sympathy for Henry Winkler. The guy’s been in the game since the ’70s, and yet, it seems like he’s still waiting for his due reward from Adam Sandler.

When some performers find they have good chemistry and enjoy working together, they often collaborate on multiple projects. For instance, Adam Sandler frequently teams up with Kevin James, yet there are many others. Interestingly, Henry Winkler has starred in four of Sandler’s films, which one might assume would foster a strong friendship; however, it seems that when The Fonz lends a helping hand to his buddy, he doesn’t receive much in return.

During a chat on the “Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa” podcast, the host enquired about Henry Winkler’s friendship with Adam Sandler. Kelly Ripa brought up that, as per Chris Rock, Sandler had gifted Maserati sports cars to his co-stars in the movie “Grown-Ups”. Interestingly, when Winkler starred in “The Waterboy”, he didn’t receive a car as a token of appreciation, contrary to what Sandler did for his other colleagues. Upon being asked about this, Winkler shared…

Last night, Waterboy reached out to me unexpectedly. He explained that his actor was absent, and asked if I could drive immediately to a park in L.A. It was already 11:30 PM. After agreeing, I quickly prepared myself, drove there, waited, and had my makeup done until 3:30 AM. Guess what I received as thanks? A single cookie! To top it off, I didn’t even get to keep the clothes I wore for the job.

It seems that Henry Winkler wasn’t initially chosen for the role of Coach Klein in Adam Sandler’s movie “The Waterboy”. Somehow, the production required a substitute actor at the eleventh hour, and Sandler requested Winkler to step in. He agreed without hesitation, yet it was a last-minute decision.

It’s likely that Henry Winkler was compensated for his role, not just given a cookie as part of the arrangement. A cookie may have seemed generous initially, but learning that others working with Sandler receive vehicles instead, makes the cookie appear rather insignificant in comparison.

In various films, Winkler has been seen alongside Adam Sandler in “Click”, “Little Nicky”, and “Don’t Mess with the Zohan”. Compared to other frequent collaborators of Sandler, Winkler has a more impressive filmography, even though these movies aren’t among Sandler’s best. Interestingly, Winkler hasn’t made an appearance in any of Sandler’s Netflix productions, but he did attend the comedy special that Sandler performed for Netflix.

Hey there, fellow gamers! Just wanted to set the record straight if by some twist of fate Adam Sandler happens to stumble upon this. Contrary to popular belief, if he’s looking to make amends with Henry Winkler, a Maserati isn’t what the man wants. You see, that sports car is a bit too close to the ground for him to comfortably climb in and out. Instead, ol’ Henrique would appreciate a compact Lexus – just enough luxury without the low-riding hassle. And let me tell you, considering his legendary status, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to treat this guy to a brand new Lexus! #WinklerNeedsALexus

I’m not saying Adam Sandler needs to buy all his co-stars sports cars. However, if that’s a thing he’s going to do, he should probably do it for the co-stars who completely save his butt who are also American icons. The Grown-Ups movies all came before Adam Sandler signed what certainly is reported to be a very lucrative deal with Netflix. The guy has the money, right?
