‘I Don’t Know. I Quit.’ Why Adam Levine Always Finds This Round Of The Voice To Be Especially Hard (And I Agree)

For Season 27 of “The Voice,” broadcasting on the 2025 TV schedule, the competition remains fierce with some exceptional vocalists gracing our screens. Consequently, the coaching panel has a challenging task ahead, particularly when it comes to team decisions this season. After the Battle Rounds, teammates now face off in the Knockouts, a stage Adam Levine finds particularly demanding. Frankly, I can understand why.

Working on his return as a coach for The Voice since leaving in 2019, Levine is finding his rhythm again. However, this also means parting ways with singers from his team each week, and it’s tough not to favor some over others. In the latest episode, during the continuation of the Knockouts, Levine placed Ari Camille against Britton Moore, a decision he later came to regret. According to Us Weekly, the lead singer of Maroon 5 admitted how difficult it was to make that choice.

Here it goes: As a cinephile, I find myself once again in the midst of intense competition. Good characters are pitted against one another, and there’s nothing I can do to change that. However, watching them navigate this knockout round gives me a sense of anticipation for how far they might go. Frankly, it’s exhilarating, but sometimes I wish I could step back and let the story unfold without my involvement.

Every week following the Blind Auditions on The Voice, the Knockout Rounds can be particularly tough since the coaches must choose one artist from their team to eliminate and determine who will compete against whom. Moreover, many of these matchups pit two exceptionally talented artists within a single team, making it difficult for the coaches to make informed decisions.

Indeed, it’s a tough ordeal for everyone, and I can’t help but dislike the whole process each time around. However, it underscores the deep concern that coaches have for their artists, as they don’t want to see them leave. In essence, it makes perfect sense why Levine feels this way, and if he were to step down again to avoid another Knockouts round, I would completely empathize with his decision.

Fortunately, following Levine selecting Moore, as he seemed more prepared to advance, John Legend utilized his sole steal option to recruit Camille onto his team instead.

Despite both singers advancing to the playoffs in this instance, it’s not always a smooth journey, which unfortunately amplifies the challenges of the Knockout rounds. While the coaches have a clear strategy and likely put a lot of thought into their pairings, the reality is that choosing a winner during the Knockouts can sometimes be incredibly tough.

Nevertheless, there are methods to ease this predicament. For instance, similar to what new coach Kelsea Ballerini did on The Voice by offering her contact information to a singer who was eliminated, hoping to maintain a connection and potentially aid them in their musical career. I would be thrilled to see more instances of such supportive actions.

As the playoffs approach, it’s expected that we’ll face even harder choices and some painful goodbyes. Tune in every Monday at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on NBC to witness the unfolding drama.
