I Just Found Out Bridgerton Played A Big Role In Jonathan Bailey Getting Ready For Wicked (And I Can Thank Ariana Grande)

As a long-time musical enthusiast who has seen countless productions, I must say that I am absolutely in awe of Jonathan Bailey‘s dedication to his craft. His commitment to both “Wicked” and “Bridgerton” is nothing short of extraordinary. I mean, the man was rehearsing on his days off while also shooting for another hit series! It’s like he’s got an endless supply of energy, or maybe he’s just fueled by an unquenchable passion for what he does.

As the hit Broadway-turned-movie musical remains a box office sensation and touches many hearts, more intriguing details about the cast and production are emerging. The latest behind-the-scenes tidbits concerning the 2024 film schedule have been shared by Ariana Grande regarding Jonathan Bailey’s dedication. His work ethic is similar to Bowen Yang’s grueling travel routine, but his devotion to the enchanting story of Oz was evident through the long hours he spent mastering the choreography on the sets of both “Wicked” and “Bridgerton” (and everywhere in between).

The two costars were interviewed by People and Grande shared that Bailey was rehearsing his numbers seemingly non-stop between the two sets, as well as his off days. She even said that some of the dance crew were allowed to go see him on the Netflix series set. She shared (Via People’s Instagram):

In simpler terms, during his free time, he was both filming Bridgerton scenes and learning the dance routines. He’d travel to the location, participate in rehearsals, and then return. Our associate choreographers would often visit him on set, teaching him the dances right in his dressing room, and so forth.

It’s incredible to see how much effort Bailey and the rest of the cast invested in the first part, I can hardly wait to see what awaits us in Part 2. Additionally, it was fascinating that the Bridgerton set allowed him to work with a few Wicked choreographers, which helped him excel as Fiyero in Fellow Travelers. His practice clearly paid off and his portrayal of Fiyero was spot-on.

In this film, the 36-year-old actor, along with his fellow cast members, poured their hearts out during production, and it’s evident when watching. As we discover more behind-the-scenes facts, our understanding deepens, making the emotions even more relatable. This is particularly poignant in interviews featuring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, where their raw emotion adds a profound layer to this version of Oz, showcasing the abundant love that went into its creation.

Exploring the media events for Wicked has been equally enlightening for someone like myself, who missed the original Broadway production. It’s been intriguing to delve deeper into the story, its characters, and the diverse ways they’re being portrayed, both on-screen and off. And it’s quite fascinating to listen to the appreciation cast members, such as Grande, express for each other’s dedication to the film, like her admiration for Bailey.

If you’re interested in seeing Bailey in Bridgerton (he’s set for Season 4) or Heartstopper, you can do so with a Netflix subscription. And if you want to catch him alongside Ariana Grande in the critically acclaimed Wicked, you can find it playing in theaters right now.
