In the realm of celebrity resemblances, I’ve never grouped Tom Hardy with Glen Powell. However, it’s been a long-discussed point that Powell bears a striking resemblance to Justin Hartley from “This Is Us” and “Tracker,” who himself looks like Andrew Walker. On the other hand, Tom Hardy is often likened to Logan Marshall-Green and occasionally to Jai Courteney. Interestingly, I recently learned that they’ve both used the same stunt double at some point, which came as a surprise to me.
In every remarkable action film, there’s an equally impressive stand-in (or several). Not long ago, stand-in (and ex-professional Motocross racer) Cody Mackie gave us a retrospective on his roles in Mad Max: Fury Road, where he stood in for Tom Hardy. It may not be immediately apparent that they share a striking resemblance, but through the wonders of filmmaking and some well-crafted costumes, circumstances came together favorably, resulting in some exceptional stunt performances.

In addition to his major roles in films, Mackie has also taken on the role of Glen Powell’s stunt double for a summer blockbuster that featured tornado-themed action. Powell admitted to performing some stunts himself in the film, such as a dramatic scene involving a jet engine propelling debris at him, but it was not Powell who performed all the stunts – Mackie stepped in for certain scenes. Check it out.

As a movie enthusiast, I must admit, it’s not that he’s destined to embody Powell just because they both won look-alike contests, but in this unique case, a plaid shirt and a distinctive belt buckle have worked wonders. Interestingly, these two actors, with their distinct ages (Hardy at 47 and Powell at 36) and appearances, share the same stunt double. This fascinating fact truly highlights how small the world of Hollywood can be, revealing the immense effort that goes into creating flawless productions on the silver screen.
Apart from Tom Hardy and Glen Powell, Cody Mackie has also served as a stunt double for other actors. He filled in for Christian Slater in “We Can Be Heroes,” and when Aaron Paul joined the cast of “Westworld,” Cody was his stunt double. Additionally, he’s performed various stunts for productions such as “Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings” and “Barbie.
Up next, he’s involved in numerous ventures, such as serving as a stunt driver for the highly awaited sequel to “Freaky Friday“. I really hope he’s standing in for Chad Michael Murray during the action scenes.
