‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ Director Responds to Speculation That Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. Didn’t Shoot Together

The director of the recent “I Know What You Did Last Summer” remake is aware of the on-screen chemistry between Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. in the new production.

The movie directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson from Sony was released over the weekend and ranked third at the domestic box office, earning $12.7 million. The main cast includes Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Jonah Hauer-King, Tyriq Withers, and Sarah Pidgeon for this new installation in the famous slasher series that started with the 1997 film of the same title.

On Saturday, a social media user posed a question to fellow film enthusiasts about the latest movie installment, wondering if stars Hewitt and Prinze, who have previously played their characters in the original film and its sequel, filmed their scenes together in this new release. The post went on to mention that some viewers are starting to recognize the “edits and separate takes” in the movie.

In the gaming world, I’d say it like this: “Just wanted to clarify about those scenes with us, yep, we did indeed act together! Hope this puts any doubts to rest.” (The director of Do Revenge added a heart emoji.)

When the original poster offered an apology and explained their embarrassment, Robinson responded with “You don’t need to apologize! I understand how people could misinterpret things due to certain media portrayals, but they were genuinely reacting to one another. It was truly energetic!

The upcoming movie revolves around a tight-knit gang of five individuals who find themselves in perilous situations, all due to their vow to keep quiet about a fateful auto collision.

In a critique penned for The Hollywood Reporter, film critic Frank Scheck noted that both Prinze and Hewitt delivered stellar performances, linking the original movie and its follow-up.
