‘I Look To My Left, It’s Brad Pitt. I Look To My Right, It’s Javier Bardem.’ F1 Has A Murderer’s Row Of Celebrities, And Even Damson Idris Was Shook

As a gamer and a huge fan of movies, I can only imagine how incredible it must be for Damson Idris to work alongside Hollywood legends like Brad Pitt and Javier Bardem in the highly anticipated racing film “F1.” The British actor’s recent revelation about his first day on set during the British Grand Prix, where he was surrounded by celebrities and notable racers, is a dream come true for many.

Damson Idris has been making waves in Hollywood for some time now, gaining significant acclaim for his performance on the successful FX series “Snowfall.” The British actor has also been making a strong impression in the film industry. His most notable project to date is the 2025 movie “F1,” directed by Joseph Kosinski, who previously helmed “Top Gun: Maverick.” Idris shares the screen with esteemed actors Brad Pitt and Javier Bardem in this upcoming production. In a recent interview, Idris spoke about working alongside such an illustrious group of celebrities, and it seems he was quite star-struck by the experience.

Back in August 2023, I was thrilled to get a behind-the-scenes peek of the F1 world during the British Grand Prix. The release of captivating photos offered fans like me an exclusive sneak peek into Brad Pitt and Damson Idris’s roles in the upcoming high-octane sports flick. Surprisingly, those images marked Damson Idris’s first day on set. What a privilege it was for him to mingle with esteemed actors and even encounter some renowned racers!

Today marked our inaugural filming day. To my left, I spotted Brad Pitt. To my right, Javier Bardem was present. My hands trembled as I took in the scene. We filmed an abundance of spectacular content with the impressive lineup of drivers beside us – including Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.

It’s likely that many of us probably would’ve felt the same way had we been in the Outside the Wire alum’s shoes. Speaking for myself, I probably would’ve been sweating up a storm when being in the presence of such massive stars. Of course, in the case of the 32-year-old actor, he was apparently able to shake off the jitters, and he definitely had to. That’s because there was serious work to be done. As the Swarm actor further explained to Vanity Fair, performing his driving-related duties was challenging:

Today, I spent 45 minutes inside a sweltering car. The heat outside is intense, leaving me dripping in sweat beneath my helmet. Quite an experience, isn’t it? I take great pride in being well-versed in every intricacy of Formula 1 racing cars. And yes, many here have indulged in the popular Netflix series, “Formula 1: Drive to Survive.”

More on F1

Just as my excitement for Brad Pitt’s upcoming Formula One film couldn’t be greater, astonishing netizens have discovered a familiar face from Bridgerton on the movie set.

It can be challenging to determine which situation would be more intimidating: mingling with Oscar winners and sports champions or undergoing rigorous training. I lean toward the latter, but even so, I’d likely stumble over my words when conversing casually with someone like Lewis Hamilton, who produced the film in addition to his F1 success. The film production process seemed demanding for the actors, yet the F1 trailer implies their efforts paid off.

As a gamer, I can tell you that in this movie, I get to live the story of Brad Pitt’s character, Sonny Hayes. Once a successful Formula One driver, I experienced his heart-wrenching retirement after a devastating accident. Fast forward to present day, my old friend Ruben, played by Javier Bardem, is the team owner who persuades me to come back to racing. He believes that my wisdom and experience can help shape the promising young racer, Joshua Pierce, portrayed by Damson Idris.

I’m thrilled to discover what the upcoming movie has in store for us, with Damson Idris being a standout actor I’m especially looking forward to seeing. His talent is undeniable, and I’m optimistic that this film will catapult his career further into Hollywood stardom. Moreover, during the upcoming press tour, Idris may share captivating anecdotes about collaborating with Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem, and other esteemed actors on set. In the meantime, mark your calendars as F1 hits theaters on June 27, 2025. For a list of other highly anticipated films slated for release this year, consult our 2024 movie schedule.
