Taylor Kitsch made a significant entry in Hollywood back in 2006 when he played Tim Riggins on the popular teen series, Friday Night Lights, and since then, he’s consistently immersed himself in various roles across projects such as Painkiller, The Terminal List (including its forthcoming spinoff), and Lone Survivor. His resume is quite impressive, with his latest project being the Netflix series, American Primeval, slated for 2025. Reflecting on his career, Kitsch expressed a desire to tackle something a bit less intense in the future.
Taylor Kitsch immersed himself in the Shoshone language for his portrayal of Isaac Reed in the series “American Primeval,” a role that has garnered much attention from Rotten Tomatoes viewers. According to reports, this was done to convincingly play a man who grew up among the tribe during the 19th century, around the time of the Mountain Meadows Massacre. Notably, this isn’t his first significant endeavor; he also established a facility for veteran sobriety after playing an opioid addict in “Painkiller” (which can be streamed with a Netflix subscription). Moreover, during the filming of “Friday Night Lights,” Kitsch relocated to Texas. Speaking about his dedication, he himself admitted: “I tend to get quite invested.
As a dedicated enthusiast, I’ve come to realize the importance of detaching myself from my pursuits. [Chuckles.] It’s a double-edged sword, being so invested in what I create – it brings joy and fulfillment, but can also cause a touch of heartache when things don’t go as planned.
An actor immersing himself in the characters he plays can frequently add authenticity and compassion to a performance, and it’s noticeable that these individuals and locations linger in his memory. Furthermore, it is said that he developed an interest in wildlife photography following the 2010 film “The Bang Bang Club” and maintained connections with the Navy SEALS after depicting an officer in both “Lone Survivor” and “The Terminal List.” Taylor Kitsch went on to explain:
Perhaps it comes across as somewhat boastful, but I find this perspective incredibly inspiring – pouring oneself into a significant endeavor. It’s not about personal gain; rather, you’re contributing to something greater than yourself. There’s an enduring quality to it, a sense of legacy. It swiftly brings humility and that’s the kind of challenge I thrive on.
It appears quite demanding, both in terms of effort and reward, yet it seems like quite an ordeal for the actor to endure. This was evident when he acknowledged this burden, as he expressed:
I need to do a fucking rom-com is what I need to do, just chill out.
Regrettably for devoted Friday Night Lights enthusiasts like myself, it appears that the much-anticipated reboot of our cherished high school football drama might not include the return of Taylor Kitsch as Tim Riggins. During a recent interview with TopMob, he did shed some light on the FNL reboot, but made it clear that he harbors little desire to step back into the role for the new series. He seems, however, amenable to making a guest appearance – one that might not necessitate another Texas relocation on his part.
We’re monitoring Taylor Kitsch’s upcoming works to check if he’ll star in a romance movie eventually. However, you can currently watch the entirety of the limited series “American Primeval” on Netflix.
