Reacher stands out among Amazon Prime’s top shows largely due to Alan Ritchson‘s dedication to his leading role. He is deeply invested in his character, maintains an impressive physique to embody him, and often participates in the high-octane action scenes. However, this level of commitment comes with its challenges, as Ritchson himself revealed the physical toll of being repeatedly hurled through walls.
With Reacher Season 3 premiering on the 2025 TV schedule on February 20, interest in the action-packed series and how they film it is ticking back up. Thankfully, Alan Ritchson knows how to keep it real, and divulged some details about just how difficult these scenes can be to film, telling IGN Brazil:
If a scene requires me to be flung through furniture or walls, which happens quite frequently, it’s not a one-time thing. Often, I have to perform these stunts multiple times, sometimes up to 12 or even 15 instances. Each time, I can’t help but think I might have injured myself – maybe a rib or my back. And then, you have to do it again, which always leaves me groaning.
It seems quite challenging, indeed. As a person who wouldn’t last long in a physical confrontation myself, it’s hard for me to fathom enduring eight impacts strong enough to be propelled into a wall. I hold nothing but admiration for Ritchson and the stunt crew on Reacher, as they put in the grueling effort and delivered those impactful blows to make this series realistic.
Ritchson explained that he takes on such tasks, which could result in injury and fatigue, merely for the sake of making the performances appear stunning on-screen and enhancing the overall quality of the show.
At the close of the day, what you aim for is that the viewers have an absolutely fantastic time with this performance and feel that they received value for their investment, each time they attend.
It’s truly rewarding for both the cast and audiences alike that Jack Reacher delivers an impressive performance, making “Reacher” an unforgettable, action-packed series.
Beyond his acting duties, Alan Ritchson rigorously trains with intense workout routines, maintaining a lean physique with less than 10% body fat. This actor is fully committed to his role, pouring all his efforts into embodying the character, narrative, and action.
Tom Cruise’s dedication fuels him with enthusiasm. Known for performing many stunts himself, he relishes the challenge and has suffered injuries as a result. Cruise fractured his foot during the filming of Mission: Impossible 2, and broke his ankle while working on Fallout. Yet, he’s resolute in executing these scenes, and they turn out spectacularly in the final movies.
Let me clarify, I genuinely wish these individuals remain unharmed at all times. Yet, their dedication to their profession and readiness to immerse themselves in the action is truly admirable. It may not be glamorous behind the scenes, but on screen, it’s nothing short of awesome. Kudos to Ritchson and any actors or stunt performers who risk getting thrown through walls for the sake of art.
It’s likely that Alan Ritchson found filming Reacher a bit smoother this time. Yet, with Paulie set to face him in the upcoming season, we can expect some thrilling scenes. I only hope he was well-prepared and that viewers are too, for the action-packed sequences ahead.
In other words, if there’s a message in this tale, it’s that when you choose to stream Reacher on your Amazon Prime account, take a moment to admire the action. Alan Ritchson has collided with numerous walls for our viewing pleasure, and he deserves recognition for the effort (and likely physical pain) he endures to bring this series to life.
