As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the intricate narratives of various video games, I can confidently say that Todd Phillips has nailed it with his tagline for Joker 2. The phrase “Let’s give the people what they want” resonates deeply with me, reminding me of those epic quests where the protagonist must satisfy the desires of the masses to progress in the story.
Each sneak peek from the upcoming film “Joker: Madness Takes Hold” has fueled my anticipation for this sequel even further. From the initial glimpse of Arthur Fleck receiving a shave in “Joker 2,” to the latest clip showcasing Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga’s musical performances, it appears we are in store for a Joker movie like no other. Director Todd Phillips has unveiled his own tagline for the upcoming production, and I must admit, I prefer his take over that of “Joker: Madness Takes Hold.”
The official tagline for Joker Folie à Deux is “The world is a stage.” I can understand a tagline fitting for this movie considering all of the song and dance numbers from the trailers give us insight into how Arthur Fleck and Harley Quinn view the world. However, its director Todd Phillips came up with a tagline of his own when promoting Joker 2 on Instagram and I’ve gotta say that I like his better:

By Harley Quinn suggesting to give people “what they want,” they are catering to society’s underlying craving for violence.
As a fervent admirer, Todd Phillips’ tagline mirrors Joker’s personal crusade for chaos. In the chilling subway scene of “Joker,” Arthur Fleck, decked out in his clown attire, avenges himself against three Wall Street bullies. This violent act unintentionally spawned a wave of followers who adopted the same clown persona as Arthur. When he took revenge on Murray Franklin during his talk show, the world watched in shock. By the climax of the film, rioters adorning clown masks idolize the movie’s villain as a cult figure, granting them the anarchy and destruction of societal norms they yearn for.
