I’ll Climb Mount Everest to Promote It!

Approximately a month has passed since the film “Coyote vs. Acme,” initially abandoned by Warner Bros. as part of a tax write-off but rescued by Ketchup Entertainment, was given a new lease on life. Star Will Forte has pledged to take extraordinary measures to publicize the upcoming Looney Tunes movie before its cinematic debut, tentatively scheduled for next year – he’s willing to do whatever it takes, including scaling Mount Everest to proclaim its release from atop the mountain and generate excitement, in hopes of ensuring its success at the box office.

At the Los Angeles debut of his latest production, The Four Seasons, Forte momentarily shifted focus to a previous project he worked on – the once delayed Coyote vs. Acme. Filming commenced for this unique blend of live-action and animated legal comedy in March 2022, with Forte portraying Kevin Avery, Wile E. Coyote’s lawyer, opposite John Cena as Buddy Crane, the attorney from the Acme Corporation. However, Warner Bros. eventually took it off their release schedule as part of a tax deduction, leading to the cancellation of both Batgirl and Scoob! Holiday Haunt. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Forte expressed his overwhelming joy upon hearing that the long-stalled Looney Tunes project had been revived.

I must admit, I didn’t expect this to occur, but suddenly, here it is, and I couldn’t be more ecstatic! A big thank you to Ketchup Entertainment for making this happen. I can hardly contain my excitement about sharing this film with everyone. I’ll do whatever it takes to spread the word. So just let me know what you need from me, and I’m ready – I’d climb Mount Everest if that’s what it takes!

Will Forte Blasted Warner Bros. Decision to Shelve ‘Coyote vs. Acme’

Previously, Forte criticized Warner Bros for their contentious choice to withhold the release of “Coyote vs. Acme” a year after filming had wrapped up. In an interview with MovieWeb in February, prior to Ketchup Entertainment acquiring the movie rights, the actor vented his anger about the predicament, stating emphatically, “It’s just crap,” followed by, “This movie is so charming and deserves so much more… I can’t explain why it wasn’t released, but it makes my blood boil.” He further added:

1. Forte originally spoke out against Warner Bros for their decision to withhold the release of “Coyote vs. Acme” a year after filming had ended. In an interview with MovieWeb in February, before Ketchup Entertainment acquired the rights, he expressed his disappointment and anger about the situation, saying, “It’s utter nonsense,” before adding, “This movie is so delightful and deserves so much more… I can’t explain why the decision was made to not release it, but it makes me really mad.” He continued:

I enjoy discussing the movie as it’s important to me that people remember the impact it had on us. While I’m grateful for the opportunity to create it, I hope we’re able to share our work and not have it go unnoticed. It would be a shame if all our efforts went into something wonderful only for it to be overlooked.

Ketchup Entertainment’s “Coyote vs. Acme” rescue mission signifies the culmination of a relentless crusade by the cast and fans, who lobbied for the film to be transferred to another production company for distribution. The movie ultimately found a fresh platform following negotiations that resulted in the rights being purchased for $50 million by Warner Bros. This is one of the studio’s most noteworthy acquisitions to date, having previously been involved in productions such as “Hellboy: The Crooked Man,” “Goodrich,” and “The Day the Earth Exploded: A Looney Tunes Movie.

As a follower, I’m excited about my role in “Coyote vs. Acme,” a project I’ve been part of under the guidance of director David Green and the talented writing team consisting of Samy Burch, Jeremy Slater, and James Gunn, who also served as one of the producers and received a story credit. The film boasts an all-star cast featuring Forte, Cena, Lana Condor, P.J. Byrne, Tone Bell, Martha Kelly, and the legendary voice actor Eric Bauza. While I’m not certain which beloved Looney Tunes characters he brought to life, his involvement adds a touch of nostalgia that I can’t wait to experience. Although we don’t have an exact release date yet, we’re aiming for 2026.
