In the Harry Potter films, young students at Hogwarts encountered struggles far more complex than just passing exams. Yet, when not in character or under the watchful eye of the cameras, the young Harry Potter cast were simply kids enjoying their childhood. I’m a devoted fan of this series, and I thought I had seen every behind-the-scenes glimpse from the set. However, something new recently emerged. For the first time, I stumbled upon an endearing video featuring the teenage actors playing around on the set of Prisoner of Azkaban. Let me tell you, it’s almost too cute to describe!
Despite more than ten years passing since the final Harry Potter film premiered, actor Tom Felton – known for his role as Draco Malfoy in the series – continues to demonstrate his enduring affection for the magical universe. His memoir, “Beyond the Wand”, offers a heartwarming look back at his time portraying the Slytherin villain. As a fellow fan, I’ve greatly enjoyed the behind-the-scenes content Felton has been sharing, and the recent video from the Azkaban set was an unexpected delight.

The video features Tom Felton, who was a teenager at the time, playing with an oversized yo-yo-like toy. It seems like he’s trying to demonstrate his supposed magical abilities for Matthew Lewis, who played Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter series! It’s quite unexpected to see them both without their traditional Hogwarts robes. However, it’s enjoyable watching them dress casually and enjoy a bit of carefree fun.
It’s clear that the cast members of the HP, notably Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, found themselves in an intriguing predicament given their youth. Being highly bankable at a young age was a natural consequence of the films’ success. However, it’s crucial to bear in mind that their childhood remained intact throughout this period. To add to this nostalgic trip down memory lane, another BTS video featuring Felton surfaced during the filming of the first movie. In this video, Felton, Radcliffe, and Watson could be seen engaging in a fun hand game between takes. Moreover, there was even footage of Felton wishing Watson a Happy Birthday. Consequently, these stars were afforded opportunities to behave like children as well.
Today, as former child stars from the Wizarding World have grown into adults and even parents, their busy lives don’t prevent them from occasionally getting together to share memories of their past experiences. For instance, Tom Felton maintains connections with his fellow cast members by playing golf with the Phelps twins and staying in touch with Daniel Radcliffe. However, the most significant gathering was undoubtedly the 20th anniversary special, Return to Hogwarts, where the British cast reunited more than a decade later.
Delighted by my affection for this cherished series, there’s nothing quite as heartwarming as coming across adorable behind-the-scenes clips featuring the cast. Recently, I stumbled upon Tom Felton and Matthew Lewis having a laugh on the set of Prisoner of Azkaban, which got me thinking about the antics the actors of the upcoming Harry Potter TV series might engage in. If I were in Tom Felton’s shoes, I’d advise the fresh faces to snap more pictures during filming, given the advanced technology at their fingertips. I can only hope that these newcomers will create humorous memories together, much like it appears their predecessors did.
With a Max subscription, you’ll have the chance to revisit Tom Felton and the entire cast of the Harry Potter movies, featuring their unforgettable performances across all eight films, along with the 20th anniversary special. Alternatively, you can stream this magical series using a Peacock subscription too.
