As a die-hard comic book enthusiast who’s spent countless hours poring over Marvel comics since I was a kid, I can confidently say that the latest developments about “Captain America: Brave New World” have me absolutely thrilled! Growing up, I remember eagerly awaiting each new issue of Captain America and devouring every single panel.
It’s not just me, but I’ve been struggling to get excited for Captain America: Brave New World. To be honest, if my past selves were to read this, they’d find it hard to believe. But lately, I’ve just been feeling “meh” about the upcoming Marvel film. That was until the latest Brave New World trailer came out and flipped me around so quickly that for a moment, I thought I had stepped into an alternate universe!
Ever since then, I’ve rewatched the trailer at least ten times, and I have to admit, I’m incredibly thrilled about this upcoming release, which has now become one of my most eagerly awaited films on the 2025 movie calendar. I can’t say for certain if it will be among the finest Marvel movies ever made, but based on what I’ve seen so far, I’m absolutely ecstatic.
Call It Fatigue, Disinterest Or Whatever, But I Haven’t Been Pumped For Captain America: Brave New World
I don’t object to Anthony Mackie assuming the role of Captain America (I found the series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” quite enjoyable), but personally, I haven’t felt excited about the upcoming film “Captain America: Brave New World”. It’s not just because Julius Onah is joining the MCU, as I’m not particularly eager for other upcoming projects either.
Despite using terms like “fatigue,” “disinterest,” or “lack of time,” my enthusiasm for catching up on the latest Disney+ Marvel shows hasn’t been there, and it’s left me feeling a bit down. I used to feel that surge of excitement leading up to each new MCU movie, even going as far as attending opening weekends for every Marvel film before working at TopMob, including seeing Iron Man 2 at the midnight showings when they were still popular. Now, it’s just not the same with Captain America’s latest adventure.
The First Teaser Was Cool And All, But It Just Fell Flat
In July, Marvel debuted the initial trailer for “Captain America: Brave New World,” which was alright, I guess. It wasn’t mind-numbingly dull or terrible, but it didn’t quite live up to expectations. Frankly, it seemed more like a sneak peek for Season 2 of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” instead of one of Marvel’s highly anticipated superhero flicks.
To clarify, although there were still interesting elements in it and I was somewhat curious about Harrison Ford’s portrayal of Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (despite the character no longer having his trademark mustache), the trailer gave an impression that the film would focus on smaller scale events following extensive exploration of the multiverse. Nevertheless, I never felt the urge to think, “This movie can’t come out soon enough.” Rather, it seems to be more about my personal preferences rather than any flaws in the film itself.
However, The New Trailer Makes Brave New World Feel Like An Old School Political Thriller
However, everything shifted for me when I stumbled upon the complete Captain America: Brave New World trailer in November 2024. From that moment on, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the release date to witness Sam Wilson and his team unravel a significant conspiracy. The new trailer gives off an air of classic political intrigue rather than a typical superhero movie filled with legendary comic book characters and adversaries.
Wow, the trailer for this movie seems to have been crafted in a style reminiscent of films like The Constant Gardener, The Day of the Jackal, or All the President’s Men. However, unlike those movies where presidents find themselves embroiled in scandals, in this film, the president transforms into a colossal red giant instead! Although I expect there to be all the typical grand moments associated with the MCU throughout Brave New World, it’s this more down-to-earth approach that has me eagerly anticipating its release.
I’m Getting Some Serious Captain America: Winter Soldier Vibes, And That Has Me Even More Stoked
In 2024, it’ll be 10 years since “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” my most cherished Marvel Cinematic Universe film, graced our screens. It’s mind-blowing to consider! I’ve rewatched Captain Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes battle it out on the streets of Washington D.C., and even in the skies above S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, more times than I can count within the MCU. So, needless to say, I’m thrilled about the prospect of “Captain America: Brave New World” seeming to share a similar grandeur and atmosphere.
The Russo Brothers’ initial installment in the series seemed particularly successful. Perhaps it was due to the thrilling action, the intriguing central conspiracy, the iconic elevator fight sequence, or perhaps because Captain America’s first solo outing since The Avengers managed to tell a compelling story on its own while also paving the way for future developments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
If “Brave New World” manages to even slightly replicate that, we’re in store for an exhilarating experience by Valentine’s Day 2025. From what the trailer suggests, I believe it will offer much more than just a sugar rush during its opening weekend.
But I’m Not Gonna Lie, I’m All Jazzed Up After That Cap Vs. Red Hulk Tease
I’m going to be real for a moment before wrapping this up – I’m totally on board to see Captain America take on Red Hulk in Brave New World, especially after the tease in the latest trailer. I don’t know if this is going to be the big climatic fight like between Hulk and Abomination at the end of The Incredible Hulk, or something like the time Tony Stark and Bruce Banner went at it in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but it looks sick either way.
As a gamer, I’ve got to say, seeing President Ross transform into Red Hulk during that White House press conference was like leveling up in an epic game! The destruction he caused afterward had me on the edge of my seat, and then fighting Cap amidst cherry blossoms was pure visual spectacle. It’s leaving me pumped to see how they wrap this up!
As the release date for Captain America: Brave New World approaches within a few months, it seems my anticipation won’t have to last much longer. In the meantime, though, I intend to rewatch some Marvel films in sequence to ensure I’m fully up-to-date before catching the new movie.
