In the wake of the Venu era, the pay-TV scene is evolving. Comcast Xfinity is introducing a leaner streaming package that primarily focuses on sports and news content.
Sports & News TV package, accessible for Xfinity internet subscribers at $70 monthly, encompasses all significant broadcast networks, along with majority (though not all) cable sports and news channels. This package also grants a Peacock subscription, 300 hours of cloud DVR storage, and the ability to access FAST channels directly within the app.

The Sports & News TV package costs Xfinity internet customers $70 per month and includes all major broadcast networks, along with most cable sports and news channels. It also comes with a Peacock subscription, 300 hours of cloud DVR storage, and gives you direct access to FAST channels via the app.
In summary, which channels are available? We have ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, Univision, Telemundo, plus all the local broadcast networks and sports channels such as ESPN, Fox Sports 1, Big Ten Network, Golf Channel, and SEC Network. However, there are a few notable exceptions – for instance, TNT, TBS, and TruTV from Warner Bros. Discovery, as well as NBCU’s USA Network.
Additionally, it encompasses all significant cable news networks such as Fox News, MSNBC, CNBC, NewsNation, along with CNN – an unusual inclusion since it seems to be the sole Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) channel featured within this bundle.
Due to the unexpected passing of Venu earlier this month, there’s been a significant shift in the pay-TV landscape, as Disney (known for their extensive ESPN channels that provide the foundation for sports television content) is now willing to offer these channels in smaller, more specific packages.
Initially, DirecTV introduced MySports, a service priced at $70 monthly, offering similar channels (excluding cable news but including TNT, TBS, and USA). Insiders in the television industry predict that other pay-TV providers will soon launch their own versions of this service, with unique features.
Despite Venu setting a target price under $45, $70 per month is quite high and doesn’t offer significant savings compared to services like YouTube TV or Hulu Live TV, which cost approximately $83 monthly. However, given that many consumers seem to prefer leaner options, Comcast is entering the competition with something more tailored: Focus on your entertainment elsewhere, but choose us for live content.
John Dixon, Senior Vice President of Entertainment at Comcast, stated that by combining top sports and news networks with Peacock – a leading streaming service for sports enthusiasts – they have created an exceptional video bundle. This new package offers top-notch content at an unmatched price, all within a premium viewing experience designed to make it effortless for customers to access their preferred live sports and news channels. In essence, Sports & News TV is an outstanding choice for those seeking affordable entertainment without compromising on their favorite sports and news networks.
