Indiana Jones’ Iconic Fedora Sells for $630k at Auction

As a gamer who grew up watching the iconic adventures of Indiana Jones, it’s hard not to feel a pang of nostalgia when hearing about the auctioning of Harrison Ford’s fedora from ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom’. With memories of surviving plane escapes, treacherous temples, and countless other thrilling scenes flooding back, I can’t help but wonder if they could have sold the entire movie for double that price!

The iconic felt fedora sported by Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom recently sold for $630,000 at an auction. This hat was custom-made by the Herbert Johnson Hat Company in London for the 1984 film, Temple of Doom.

Initially seen after Indiana Jones narrowly avoids being killed in a plane explosion by using an inflatable raft to escape, the iconic fedora hat in the movie is noteworthy as it was donned by Harrison Ford’s stunt double, Dean Ferrandini, during filming.

The hat remained in Dean Ferrandini’s personal collection and was sold last year upon his passing.

At an auction held by Propstore in Los Angeles on Thursday, the final bid for the fedora came to $630,000 USD, which was over twice the selling price of another “Temple of Doom” fedora that was sold for $300,000 USD at a 2021 auction.

Additionally available at the auction were a helmet dating back to 1983’s “Return of the Jedi” movie, as well as a magic wand that Daniel Radcliffe utilized in the 2004 film “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.”
