As a long-time Instagram user, I must say that the new feature allowing comments on Stories has significantly changed my social media experience – for better or for worse, depending on your perspective!
Now, Instagram users have the opportunity to directly comment on someone’s Story. Earlier, users could only message those who had shared a Story, which would show up in their Direct Messages (DMs).
Hereafter, comments will be visible to everyone, similar to those on an average Instagram post. However, users have the flexibility to select whether they’d prefer private messaging as well, based on their personal choices.
Users can choose whether to enable or disable commenting on their Stories. Visitors of the Story can see comments, but only mutual contacts of the poster can post comments. These comments, along with the Story, will automatically disappear after 24 hours.
Essentially, it’s similar to the live streaming function on Instagram, allowing users to post comments visible to everyone.
