As a die-hard fan of Invincible since its comic book inception, I can hardly contain my excitement for Season 3! Robert Kirkman’s assurance that Mark and Eve’s relationship will be further explored has me eagerly awaiting the next chapter in their unique dynamic.
Invincible Season 3 is confirmed, and yes, I am so excited about it.
Among the numerous upcoming superhero movies and TV series that excite me, one that captured my affection since its debut season is “Invincible.” Although there are other fantastic superhero shows available, such as “The Boys” (a standout on Prime) or “The Umbrella Academy,” the Amazon Prime animated series has carved a unique spot in my affections.
It’s been known for quite some time that Season 3 of Invincible is happening, but since the second season concluded in April 2024 as part of the 2024 TV lineup, viewers have been eagerly waiting for another glimpse of Mark Grayson and his companions. Here’s what we currently know – and what you can anticipate!
What Is The Invincible Season 3 Premiere Date?
Currently, there hasn’t been an officially announced premiere date for Season 3 of “Invincible” yet, which isn’t too unexpected given that the second season just wrapped up in April 2024. It seems reasonable that the creators would need some time to work on new episodes following the conclusion of the previous season.
Many animated series often experience lengthy gaps between seasons, with examples like “Arcane” Season 1 premiering in 2021 and the much-anticipated Season 2 finally arriving in 2024. This delay is common among various animated programs and even some anime.
Supporters of “Invincible” may remember the lengthy gap between Seasons 1 and 2, but fortunately, we anticipate Season 3 to arrive more promptly. During an interview with Collider in March 2024, prior to Season 2’s conclusion, actor Steven Yeun (Mark Grayson) revealed that they were already in the process of creating Season 3 – suggesting a faster release for us this time around.
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve always been captivated by Robert Kirkman’s work, and I remember him explaining in the past why creating Invincible takes so long – it’s all about the intricate details and animation. But hearing that Season 3 is currently being worked on gives me a glimmer of hope that we might finally get to witness its return next year!
The Invincible Season 3 Cast
Although the official confirmation for Season 3 of “Invincible” is yet to be made, it’s anticipated that certain characters will make a return. Actor Steven Yeun, who plays Mark Grayson, has confirmed his involvement with the series as he was working on it since March, according to Collider. Other characters we might hear from again include:
- J.K. Simmons as Omni-Man
- Sandra Oh as Debbie Grayson
- Gillian Jacobs as Atom Eve
- Andrew Rannells as William Clockwell
- Zazie Beetz as Amber Bennett
- Walton Goggins as Cecil Stedman
- Chris Diamantopoulos as Donald Ferguson
- Zachary Quinto as Rudy Connors
- Ross Marquand as The Immortal
- Jason Mantzoukas as Rex Splode
- Grey Griffin as Shrinking Rae/Monster Girl
Here are some key figures who frequently appear throughout the show, and there are also numerous secondary characters and subplots worth noting as well.
What Is Invincible Season 3 Going To Be About?
If you’ve caught a glimpse of the show “Invincible”, be it the entire series, the premiere of Season 2, or any other part, you’d realize that this series is an adaptation from comics. This means there are numerous storylines we can delve into as we approach Season 3. However, thanks to a chat with Variety conducted by Robert Kirkman in April 2024, we have some insights into the upcoming events:
We Will See Mark’s Brother More
If you found it slightly unusual, as I did, that Mark has a half-Viltrumite, half-alien brother, then prepare yourself to accept this new development. While Mark’s brother is currently under his mother’s care, Kirkman hinted that Season 3 will delve deep into this character and the rapid rate at which he grows older.
Absolutely, his character will undergo rapid aging similar to how it was depicted in the comics. As for where we find him at the start of Season 3, that detail might be left unveiled. However, throughout the season, you’ll encounter various manifestations of this character.
Mark And Eve’s Relationship Will Be A Core Part Of Season 3
In the second season, another surprising development was that Mark and Amber parted ways due to reasons we can all comprehend. However, if you’re curious about potential new pairings, it seems Mark might be interested in Eve.
Based on certain scenes from Season 2, it’s evident that there’s a hint of a connection between them. Moreover, Kirkman has hinted that Season 3 will delve into the fundamental aspects of their relationship, making it a significant element: the essence of who they are together.
In the finale of Season 2, we witness the initial stages of a transformation in Mark and Eve’s relationship. This dynamic is set to be a significant focus in Season 3, exploring where their bond heads, how it develops and changes. Whether they officially remain together or not is yet to be revealed, but there are certainly intriguing developments between them that will carry forward into Season 3, with hopes of extending even further.
Omni-Man Will Be In Season 3 A Lot More
As a devoted fan, let me tell you, the reduction of Omni-Man’s screen time in Season 2 was a significant miss for me. Don’t get me wrong, I adore Mark and the rest of the crew, but Omni-Man brought an unique flavor to Invincible, particularly his intriguing dynamic with Mark. Fortunately, Robert Kirkman hinted that we can expect more of this iconic character in Season 3, following his somewhat reserved role in Season 2.
In Season 2, we aimed to emphasize that the series is centered around Mark Grayson (Invincible), rather than Omni-Man. While Omni-Man played a significant role in Season 1 and continues to be crucial to the show, there was a concern that viewers might expect more of him after Season 1. To address this, we slightly reduced Omni-Man’s presence in Season 2, but he will return with more focus in Season 3.
The Viltrumites Are The Main Villain Now
In most superhero shows, the antagonists often switch from season to season or even within episodes. This was a common occurrence in Invincible. Yet, Kirkman mentioned that Season 3 will deviate from this pattern as the Viltrumites, being Omni-Man’s species, are established as the primary and ongoing villains.
Throughout Season 2, particularly with Kregg’s instructions to Mark and Anissa’s encounters with him, as well as teaser suggestions of future developments, the Viltrumites have solidified their role as the primary menace in this series. While characters like Angstrom Levy may emerge as temporary main antagonists for a season or two, the overarching tension throughout the show will primarily revolve around the Viltrumite threat.
Every Episode Will “Feel Like A Finale”
In an exclusive reveal on Amazon Prime (as reported by Games Radar), Kirkman has confirmed that each episode in Season 3 will carry the intensity and climactic feel of a season finale.
We want every [season three] episode to feel like it’s a finale. Season three is an absolutely huge season with so many crazy things that you won’t expect. And where we leave things at the end of season three… Oh my god, I cannot wait for people to see that stuff.
So can I just please have this show now? Please?
The third season of “Invincible” has been confirmed, and I’m hoping we won’t have to wait too long. However, until it premieres, I guess I’ll satisfy my superhero cravings by looking forward to all the upcoming Marvel films—the Graysons are unrivaled in this genre, though.
