Warning! This article contains spoilers for Ironheart.
Among all the memorable characters that have graced the silver screen, Iron Man undoubtedly stands out as one of the most iconic. Following the release of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), I’ve been revisiting the original trilogy and seeing it in a completely fresh perspective. Iron Man laid the groundwork for the MCU, not just as the first film in the series, but also due to the captivating performance by Robert Downey Jr., who brilliantly brought this character to life.
Ever since Tony Stark’s remarkable sacrifice in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, his absence has been noticeable. Yet, with Ironheart’s entrance into the MCU, a hint of the old excitement resurfaces as Riri Williams uses her brilliant mind.
This fresh character shares many traits with Tony Stark yet possesses distinct qualities that make them unique. Consequently, they evoke similarities to the billionaire, lady’s man, benefactor, and genius.
The new hero from Chicago is like Tony Stark in some ways but different in others too, which makes people think of him as a mix between Stark’s wealth, charm, generosity, and intelligence.
7. Iron Monger’s Death
Initially, Jeff Bridges’ portrayal of Obadiah Stane in the 2008 movie was simply outstanding. Although Stane appears suspect from the beginning, it isn’t until later in the storyline that we discover he’s working against Tony Stark.
However, when Stane reveals his malevolent nature, having once been an associate of Howard Stark and now clad in a suit of his own metallic armor, it becomes evident that he is relentless and prepared to eliminate anyone standing against him.
In a fierce struggle, Tony eventually overcomes Obadiah, but unfortunately, during their tough fight, Obadiah plunges to his demise. This confrontation undeniably symbolizes the downfall of Stane, both in terms of his character and physically, yet the specifics of Stane’s actions remain hidden from public view.
Ironheart unveils that Stane’s demise was disguised as a regrettable accident, yet this industrial titan deserved admiration. Simultaneously, his immediate family, such as his son Ezekial, were informed of the truth and were compelled to witness others praising a man they recognized had transformed into a beast.
6. Iron Monger “Protects” Tony Stark
Prior to donning the armored titan, Obadiah had been a dubious character all along. In a pivotal moment within the film “Iron Man”, Tony Stark is shocked to discover that his weaponry was being transported to extremist factions.
In the ensuing conversation, Obadiah discloses some crucial facts. Firstly, it transpires that Obadiah has been secretly working for the benefit of both parties in order to amass more wealth. Secondly, he admits to having filed an injunction against Stark with the intention of seizing control of the company.
When Obadiah simplifies his major disclosures, he essentially suggests that he was safeguarding Tony, but his actions clearly contradict that claim. Yet, this scenario leaves us pondering, how does this individual perceive the act of “preserving” those individuals who are dearest to him?
It seems that Ezekiel Stane harbors unfavorable feelings towards his father. If this is the kind of treatment Obadiah Stane gave to someone he considered a friend, it wouldn’t be surprising if he showed similar behavior towards his own child.
5. Iron Man Rejects Aldrich Killian
In contrast to Tony Stark, Riri Williams experienced significantly distinct upbringing conditions. Unlike Tony, who was accustomed to a life of renown and affluence from the start, Riri had to navigate through hardships and fight for the resources necessary to conduct her experiments.
As Tony was surrounded by eager researchers and engineers, Mira was figuring out how to navigate her situation independently. In both cases, they unknowingly fostered competition among peers.
For Tony, he encountered a man named Aldrich Killian whom he disregarded and belittled, eventually leading him to establish AIM with a vendetta against Tony. For Riri, she came across a group led by Parker Robbins that she recognized as dangerous. In her dire situation, she reluctantly joined the crew.
From then on, their connection developed into something more complex and ominous, eventually leading to complications for the two of them in the future.
4. Tony Stark Provides Funding For All Projects At MIT
In the movie “Captain America: Civil War,” although it wasn’t an event directly from the Iron Man trilogy, Tony Stark’s unveiling of the September Foundation had a significant impact on characters such as Riri Williams.
Born into wealth, Stark has consistently had the resources to chase his ambitions. Yet, as his aspirations shifted, he was able to venture into bold endeavors and alter his course. Regrettably, many individuals do not have this luxury in their lives.
When Stark unveiled the September Foundation, a venture dedicated to supporting creative and experimental projects at MIT through funding, he essentially made it possible for those who are not as affluent as himself to have opportunities in this realm.
A short while later, funds from the Stark Foundation laid the groundwork for a fresh hero to emerge, constructing a suit bearing some resemblance to Stark’s own design. This was made possible by the Stark Foundation in September.
3. Tony Building His First Suit In The Lab
In the movie “Iron Man”, Tony Stark devises an ingenious solution to escape captivity after being abducted, and that’s by constructing his first Iron Man armor. However, upon returning to his workshop filled with luxurious vehicles, he dedicates a significant amount of time to assembling the Mark II suit.
In this series, Stark’s experimentation with various materials culminates in an improved, lifesaving version of his suit. This process bears intriguing similarities to Riri Williams’ journey.
Instead, following the loss of her original facilities, Riri finds herself innovating, working not in an advanced AI environment or a large high-tech laboratory, but rather collaborating with her dearest friends and relatives at her step-father’s former repair shop.
As a cinephile, I’d rephrase it this way: To forge a deeper connection between these legendary movie moments, I, too, utilize my stepfather’s classic sports car – a stunning piece of automotive history – to craft a fresh suit. This echoes Tony’s lab brimming with sports cars and underscores the resourcefulness that defines both our characters.
2. Iron Man Recruits Harley Keener To Help Him Build
In the individuals Riri enlists for aid, she discovers remarkable assistance, creativity, and invention from a youthful boy she encounters on her way home when her vehicle breaks down. Following this encounter, they establish an unofficial alliance or teamwork.
At this point, there’s quite a bit of similarity between what’s happening now and when the character Tony Stark, from the movie “Iron Man 3,” found himself stranded in an unfamiliar area, with his suit running out of power. Just like Iron Man, he encountered a young boy named Harley Keener who chose to lend a helping hand.
Harley and Landon share similar traits as they’re clever, quick-witted, and mischievous children. They stand out with a greater-than-average understanding of engineering concepts at their age, and they both prove to be inventive when it comes to assisting their new buddies in need.
Considering everything, it’s evident that these two children share many traits, and their developmental stages seem reminiscent of the hero’s journey experienced by both Tony Stark (Iron Man) and Riri Williams (Ironheart).
Or:
From all angles, it’s clear that these kids have much in common, and their personal growth mirrors the journeys undertaken by both Tony Stark (Iron Man) and Riri Williams (Ironheart), as depicted in the hero’s journey.
1. Tony Stark Debuts His Advanced Holographic Technology
In the film “Captain America: Civil War”, there’s a significant scene where Tony Stark demonstrates his exceptional holographic tech prior to unveiling the September Foundation. This display serves as a narrative about him playing the piano with his mother, which aligns with the foundation’s name.
In awe, I must say, this groundbreaking technology offers an exceptional opportunity for me to step into a moment or a setting with unparalleled realism and immersion. Remarkably, Ironheart has masterfully adapted such technology in a truly inventive manner.
In her efforts to construct an innovative AI for her suit, Riri inadvertently develops a replica of her late friend, whom she communicates with via holographic technology. It’s plausible that this design may have been Stark’s original, and Riri was able to reproduce it for her personal applications.
Here’s another way to phrase that: This occurs once more when NATALIE shares a memory with Riri, depicting her younger self with her stepfather. Again, it underscores the remarkable bond between these characters and how the Iron Man storyline resonates deeply for a new hero such as Ironheart.
