Aamir Khan frequently discusses his long-held ambition of adapting the Mahabharata, a legendary mythological saga, for the big screen. In his latest statements, the actor shared that he’s currently engaged in developing this project and aspires to create additional content tailored towards children.
At the ABP Network’s Ideas of India 2025, Aamir Khan was asked about his future plans. In response, the actor expressed that he has long harbored a dream to adapt Mahabharata, and hinted that he might now start contemplating this aspiration. He also suggested that there could be a role for him in it, but remained uncertain as to whether that would indeed be the case.
As a passionate advocate, I find myself drawn to the realm of children’s content. In my opinion, India seems to produce less local content focused on children compared to other areas. Often, we adapt content from foreign sources, give them our own voices, and share them here. However, what truly ignites my spirit is the idea of creating stories that resonate with our very own children.
In his own words, the star of Earth’s Stage shared that he aims to foster upcoming talent within the entertainment industry by means of his production projects. To make his intention clearer, he referred to the show Laapataa Ladies, which features fresh faces like Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, and Sparsh Shrivastava as evidence. Additionally, he mentioned that his former spouse, Kiran Rao, is also a relatively new director in the field.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’d say: I take pride in focusing on one project at a time, finding immense joy and satisfaction in each cinematic journey I embark upon. Yet, there’s an actor within me yearning to explore new roles, and that can only be fulfilled by stepping behind the producer’s chair. I envision my production house bustling with creativity, nurturing fresh talent from every corner of our country, breathing life into untold stories that resonate deeply with diverse audiences.
In addition to the questions posed, Khan was asked about something he’d like to alter within the Hindi film industry. In response, he emphasized the importance of increased recognition and backing for scriptwriters in this sector. He expressed his belief that as creators, writers should be given more financial and time-related consideration.
The superstar suggested that we should increase the number of movie theaters in our country, as there are over a hundred thousand movie theaters in China. Currently, we have around 10,000 theaters, but we need more to accommodate a diverse audience.
In terms of his professional life, Khan will appear next in Sitaare Zameen Par, a sequel to his 2007 directorial debut. This upcoming movie also stars Darsheel Safary and Genelia Deshmukh and is scheduled to premiere in cinemas towards the end of this year around Christmas time.
