The climactic part of the Daredevil: Born Again series, featuring more of The Punisher, was scheduled for TV broadcast in 2025 and left viewers speechless. While the brutal city takeover by Kingpin was a major highlight, many fans were surprised that Elden Henson’s character Foggy Nelson wasn’t seen after his apparent death in the first episode. Some speculate that Marvel might be saving him for a grand return in Season 2, which has been announced, as they didn’t bring him back in the final episode of Season 1.
Perhaps it would be best if they moved on.
Instead of providing a direct response, I’ll suggest that we should wait and see what happens, as there are various stories surrounding these characters in their comic book lore. Unfortunately, Karen Page is no longer alive in the comics, so it’s challenging to predict the future with certainty.
Absolutely no refutation or confirmation was given, yet anticipation among fans remains high as his answer leaves room for further speculation and theories. For dedicated followers of Foggy Nelson, this prolonged wait is undeniably nerve-wracking, leaving them wondering if their speculations prove valid in the end.
Discussions about Foggy’s fate have been swirling since the initial episodes, with some viewers speculating that he may have staged his own death to protect Matt, while others propose the possibility that he could be covertly involved in Fisk’s administration. This notion is largely derived from a plotline reminiscent of the comics, where Foggy seemingly perishes, but later resurfaces in an ambulance and is relocated for witness protection.
Up until now, there hasn’t been any concrete evidence suggesting he’s still alive, and I can’t help but mention that the filmmakers have made it apparent that Matt heard Foggy’s heart stop during that particular scene. Later on, we witness how adept Matt is at detecting heartbeats, which makes it challenging to accept that Foggy staged his own death. However, given the unusual twists in the original content, anything is possible, isn’t it?
The initial season of “Born Again” concluded in an ominous manner, both physically and symbolically. According to Scardapane’s interview with TV Insider, the blackout in the finale wasn’t just a dramatic device; it signified a shift in power dynamics. With Fisk now in charge and characters like Daredevil being labeled as state enemies, the city has never felt more dystopian. Given this grim setting, someone like Foggy, who has always advocated for working within the system, might not be the right fit. The notion that he would stage his own death, leaving Matt and Karen in the dark, seems unlikely.
1. It’s inconsistent with his personality, as Charlie Cox himself has discussed the impact of losing Foggy and how it will continue to weigh on Matt. Redoing all that character development seems unnecessary. (104 words)
2. It doesn’t fit his character; Charlie Cox has shared thoughts about Foggy’s death and its lasting effect on Matt. Reversing the development they’ve built for these characters seems pointless. (96 words)
3. Given that Charlie Cox has expressed how Matt will be affected by losing Foggy, it feels out of character to undo all the work put into developing their relationship. (84 words)

Despite Scardapane’s cautious reply, it will certainly sustain optimism among many viewers. Notably, Deborah Ann Woll’s character Karen Page was seldom seen throughout the season, but made a return later on for some dramatic conflict involving Frank. Fortunately, she didn’t suffer a gunshot wound. The final episode suggested that Matt and Karen might be readying to establish their own resistance, potentially enlisting aid from fellow street-level associates like Foggy. Could it be Foggy who joins them?
It’s anticipated that Season 2 will drop earlier in the year 2026, and it’ll be accessible for streaming if you have a Disney+ membership. For those who can’t wait to learn more about Marvel’s television series within the MCU, you might also want to explore the schedule of upcoming Marvel TV shows.
