In the climactic battle between the almighty sorcerer Gojo and Sukuna, the ruler of curses, it is Sukuna who emerges victorious, leaving Gojo’s lifeless body behind. Gojo Satoru Really Dies in ‘Jujutsu Kaisen‘

However, it seems that the central character of this captivating tale has already met their demise. During the Shibuya Incident, an unexpected twist occurred as Gojo was mysteriously sealed within the Prison Realm by Kenjaku, who had assumed control over Geto’s body.

For the following two story arcs, Gojo takes a minor role until he is unsealed during the “Culling Game Arc”, a pivotal event leading to the most crucial battle in the anime. The confrontation between Gojo and the fully revived Sukuna was highly anticipated by manga enthusiasts, not just for its stunning illustrations, but also due to the implications of Gojo’s destiny as the story nears its end. While it would be ideal if Sukuna could never penetrate Gojo Satoru’s Infinity, the Curse King had a strategy in place from the start of the series.

In the intense clash, Sukuna (living within Megumi Fushiguro now) employs the 10 Shadows Technique of the Zenin Clan to conjure General Mahoraga, the mightiest shikigami known, whom he had previously fought during the Shibuya Incident Arc. Employing Mahoraga’s hidden ability that partitions reality itself, Sukuna risks everything and emerges victorious by slashing the Infinity technique of the world’s most powerful sorcerer. However, this triumph was made possible because Gojo momentarily lowered his defenses after succumbing to the villain’s trickery.

How Gojo’s Revival Brought Hope to Fans

The unfortunate passing of Gojo left little hope for resurrection due to his body being split in two. Yet, Gege Akutami, despite harboring strong feelings against the character Gojo Satoru, is a gifted writer. Despite Yuta’s revival of Gojo offering a glimmer of hope to fans, Gege Akutami chose not to provide a satisfying resolution for readers at the conclusion of the story.

Gojo Satoru Deserved a Better Ending

Despite Yuta temporarily taking control of Gojo Satoru’s body to combat Sukuna and restore it to health thanks to Rika, it was not a resurrection of Gojo Satoru as fans anticipated. In truth, reviving him was feasible since no fatal injury could eliminate Gojo from existence. With his body restored, he would have at least survived another day.

It was evident that Gege didn’t care for Gojo, as the beloved character from the anime didn’t receive a fitting goodbye. Instead of his death being recognized by his students, it was just ignored. Given that Gojo is an extraordinary figure with a massive fanbase, not acknowledging his departure feels incredibly unsatisfying.

Frankly, the final phase left much to be desired, leading many fans to label it one of the most criticized manga endings in history.
