Recently, Bollywood actor Ishaan Khatter garnered attention with his series “The Royals” streaming on Netflix, where his performance was widely acclaimed by both audiences and critics. He portrayed a charming Maharaja, winning over viewers’ hearts. Now, he finds himself in the spotlight as his film “Homebound” debuted at the Cannes Film Festival 2025 and earned a nine-minute standing ovation. Ishaan Khatter has now shared insights into his journey from “The Royals” to “Homebound,” discussing the most challenging aspect of the transition.

In a chat with The Hollywood Reporter India, Ishaan Khatter discussed the biggest challenge he faced while embodying his character in Homebound. He stated that connecting his own life to that of his character, which were two distinct worlds despite being on the same land, proved to be the most challenging task. He also mentioned that after wrapping up The Royals, he started shooting for Homebound and the differences between the two sets were stark.

He stated, “The most challenging aspect, I must admit, was the preparation time. It involved immersing myself deeply into the character, understanding it, making it a part of me, and putting in the effort so that during filming, I wouldn’t struggle with my character.

Apart from sharing details about the demanding transformation his character required in Homebound, Ishaan mentioned the pressure to lose weight for a more genuine portrayal, as suggested by the director. At the same time, Ishaan was still recovering from an injury, making an already challenging production even more arduous.

For approximately two months, the actor filmed in Madhya Pradesh, pushing his limits, yet he admitted that seeing “Homebound” premier at the Cannes Film Festival made all the effort truly rewarding.

Currently, Ishaan Khatter has entered the world of streaming with his debut in The Royals alongside Bhumi Pednekar. This series also features notable actors such as Sakshi Tanwar, Zeenat Aman, Chunky Panday, Nora Fatehi, Milind Soman, Dino Morea, and others.

More recently, he strolled on the crimson carpet during the Cannes Film Festival 2025 for his movie “Homebound,” alongside fellow actors Janhvi Kapoor and Vishal Jethwa. This production was unveiled in the Un Certain Regard section at the festival.
