As an ardent admirer, I’m thrilled to share that ColorCreative, the dynamic management and production company founded by Issa Rae, Deniese Davis, and Talitha Watkins, is embarking on the third installment of their Find Your People Program.
FYPP is created to empower and cultivate rising creative minds. It seeks to develop skills, build a supportive network, and increase opportunities in the entertainment sector, collaborating with partners such as Canva, Michael Jordan and Jordan Brand Black Community Commitment, MAC/Viva Glam, Ghetto Film School, and Pop Culture Collaborative.
As a fervent admirer, I’d like to share that this program is an offshoot of Stanford Business School’s Interpersonal Dynamics course, designed to equip us with the courage and skills needed to excel in intense, innovative settings. Notably, Bronwyn Cornelius, who garnered acclaim for her work on the 2019 film Clemency, which won the Sundance Grand Jury Prize, is back as the executive producer and mentor for this project.
Watkins declared that FYPP stands for our dedication to establishing a robust, diverse artistic sector. This isn’t merely about unearthing future narrators; it’s about readying them to take charge with foresight, tenacity, and influence.
Just before the commencement of year three, FYPP will celebrate the successes achieved in its second year with a premier event recognizing the outstanding cohorts; this special occasion is set for June 23, where the program’s newest short films will be screened at AMC Century City 15. This gathering will unite industry veterans, established artists, and emerging talents. Over the course of its second year, eight original short films were produced, with four being chosen by prestigious film festivals such as Slamdance, Pan African Film Festival, American Black Film Festival, and NY Latino Film Festival. Additionally, alumni have moved on to contribute to projects for ColorCreative and Rae’s media company Hoorae.
A full list of the year three cohorts is below:
