Instead of waiting for everyone else to see Elphaba and Glinda duet in the 2025 movie “Wicked: For Good”, a select group of fans had the unique opportunity to witness Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth, who originally played these characters on Broadway, perform a song from “Wicked” together on Thursday. What’s truly astonishing is that two individuals reportedly spent $16,000 for an up-close experience as these talented singers performed the song “For Good”.
Currently, Idina Menzel is gracing Broadway once more as the star of the new musical “Redwood.” Following her show where she sings an extensive eleven songs as her character, she returned to the stage, this time accompanied by Kristin Chenoweth for a unique rendition of “For Good.” Don’t miss out on it; I double-dare you not to shed a tear!
In the video, you might have spotted two fans who were passionately singing alongside the stars from Wicked, Chenoweth and Menzel, and became quite emotional during their reunion. According to Vulture, these two individuals won a Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS campaign, granting them the opportunity to join the performance of their beloved song on stage with the stars, as well as snap photos with them.
The intense competition for the item ended at $8,000, resulting in the duo spending a total of $16,000 on the entire experience! That’s quite an expensive ticket, though I doubt many people, except perhaps former cast members of Wicked, have ever been so close to the magic of Wicked with the original Broadway stars who retired in 2005. Moreover, their money was donated to a charitable organization.
The situation was delightfully charming as the duo struggled slightly with the melody due to some lack of recent practice. Menzel humorously admitted her own flatness after hitting a single note, causing them confusion about who should sing which part together. Nevertheless, the two leads from “Wicked” gave an exceptional performance of the emotional ballad, and it was evident that this song feels deeply connected to them.
In a delightful turn of events for fans of the stage, Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth recently collaborated again on the Wicked film, adding a fresh melody in Emerald City. Interestingly, their roles were initially intended to be brief appearances rather than this heartfelt reunion.
