As a seasoned gamer with years of immersion in various virtual worlds, I must say, it’s not every day that real-life events resonate so strongly with the glamour and nostalgia of my gaming avatars. Blake Lively’s dazzling appearance at the premiere of “It Ends With Us” clad in the iconic Versace dress Britney Spears wore back in 2002, has undeniably struck a chord with me.
Isn’t she lucky?
At New York’s AMC Lincoln Square theater yesterday evening, Blake Lively graced the red carpet for the debut of her latest movie, “It Ends With Us”. She wore a sparkling Versace gown that Britney Spears had donned in 2002. Upon arriving, she shared with People magazine that it was indeed Britney’s dress. She expressed her luck at having the opportunity to wear such an iconic piece, wishing it were in a museum like the Smithsonian or the Met instead.
As reported by Tab Vintage, Britney Spears acquired the dress from their archives. Earlier today, the mother of four shared her admiration for the renowned singer on Instagram Stories, calling her “the epitome of royalty who inspired us all to shine, express ourselves, and share our tales.” Spears donned this dress during her visit to Versace’s Spring/Summer women’s 2003 collection show in Milan on October 1st, 2002.
Lively expressed, “Britney, many millennials like myself have moments or years that you’ve inspired us to shine brightly, showcasing strength, joy, and immense hard work. We appreciate your example and the impact you’ve made on women sharing their stories. We’re thrilled about your biopic and all the great things yet to come.”
Universal Studios is preparing to create a movie based on Spears’ popular memoir, “The Woman in Me.” Director Jon M. Chu, who will also be working on the upcoming two-part film adaptation of “Wicked,” has agreed to take the helm following the acquisition of the rights in a fierce bidding war.
Emily Lively donned a striking one-shoulder evening gown made of georgette fabric, adorned with intricate embroidery in various pastel hues, during her latest press tour for the movie. This dress beautifully complements her contemporary approach to dressing, as seen on the tour.
Under the direction of Justin Baldoni and adapted from Colleen Hoover’s novel, the movie titled It Ends With Us features Rachel Lively as Lily Bloom, a woman who establishes a flower shop in Boston and finds herself drawn to a neurosurgeon (Baldoni), potentially not her ideal partner. She has been favoring floral motifs during her public appearances in New York City, sporting outfits by Chanel, Oscar de la Renta, and Vivienne Westwood.
On Tuesday evening, the focus was on Britney and Versace. After the premiere, Lively changed out of her long gown into a vibrant pink Versace for the movie’s afterparty held at the iconic venue, Tavern on the Green in New York City.
It Ends With Us opens Aug. 9.
