‘I’ve Been Covered In Tinsel For Six Months Of The Year!’ Hallmark Star Admits To Not Decorating At Christmas, But It Sorta Makes Sense

As a dedicated fan of Hallmark Christmas movies, I must say that if Lacey Chabert is the queen, then Jonathan Bennett is undoubtedly the king. His dedication to spreading holiday cheer through these films is unparalleled, and his historic role in Hallmark’s first-ever gay-led holiday film only cements his status as a true Christmas legend.

As a big fan, I can’t help but see Lacey Chabert as the undisputed Queen of Hallmark Christmas movies. Yet, when it comes to the King of these festive flicks, there’s no question in my mind – it’s Jonathan Bennett! Ever since he debuted on the network back in 2010, he’s been a staple, even making history as the lead in Hallmark’s first-ever gay-led holiday film. During production, you could say that Christmas is his life, and it shows on screen.

In a chat with Us Weekly, the self-proclaimed Christmas Movie King openly shared that he doesn’t intend to adorn his personal residence with holiday decorations. Initially, this revelation left me feeling let down. After all, one might expect someone who contributes so much festive cheer through his films to embrace it in his own life. However, upon considering his rationale, I can now appreciate his perspective:

By the end of this year, I’ll have completed shooting four Christmas movies: “Finding Mr. Christmas”, “Christmas on Cherry Lane” (a sequel), a secret Christmas movie project, and one for next year. It seems like I’m always surrounded by tinsel for six months out of the year!

Spending Christmas all day every day for six months might appear enchanting initially, but I can concede that it would diminish some of the charm the season holds. Nevertheless, imagining the Mean Girls star celebrating the festivities devoid of even a strand of tinsel is disheartening. Fortunately, it doesn’t seem like Bennett is fully embracing the Grinch-like perspective.

Discussing the launch of Hallmark’s inaugural holiday reality show titled “Finding Mr. Christmas,” where ten gentlemen contend with one another in yuletide contests to secure a role in their very own Hallmark original film, Bennett experienced a sudden revelation:

I have ten elves that will come over and decorate for me!

Jonathan Bennett recently confessed that Hallmark’s Christmas movies tend to recycle similar themes frequently. In fact, they devised a game to identify these repetitive ideas, making it more fun to spot them!

The actor playfully proposed that decorating his home for himself and his partner Jaymes Vaughan could become a thrilling competition for the show’s participants. Naturally, he considered an exciting twist for this challenge – one that Bennett (the executive producer) has also pondered upon. This twist involves the contestants finishing the job within just 30 minutes.

Even though I haven’t watched “Finding Mr. Christmas” as I don’t have a Hallmark+ subscription, the concept aligns perfectly with a holiday-focused series like that. It may not fit this season’s reality show plot, but if they renew it next year, I could imagine the host proposing to include it in future episodes.

Before anything else, Jonathan Bennett’s home will stay devoid of Christmas decorations, as he personally likes it this way. At least, we can cross our fingers that they have a subscription to Hallmark+ because his upcoming Hallmark holiday movie titled “Season’s Greetings from Cherry Lane” is available exclusively on the new streaming platform.
