As a devoted fan of both Jack Black and Paul Rudd’s comedic genius, hearing about their potential collaboration in a new Anaconda movie has me absolutely writhing with anticipation! Their unique blend of humor and dramatic flair is exactly what I crave when it comes to reimagining a classic like Anaconda.
Columbia Pictures is hoping to squeeze out a new Anaconda movie for the 2020s.
As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share the news that Jack Black and Paul Rudd might be stepping into the limelight for a fresh take on the chilling 1997 horror film that spawned a mini-franchise.
As I, a passionate gamer, eagerly anticipate, the maestro behind the meta masterpiece “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent” starring Nicolas Cage, is teaming up to script and guide the next project as its director.
In the initial film, it was Jennifer Lopez, Owen Wilson, Ice Cube, and Jon Voight who took the lead roles. The plot revolved around a National Geographic film team on a quest to discover the world’s largest and most venomous snake. However, they found themselves in an unexpected situation where the roles were reversed.
Based on reports, the latest tale centers around a bunch of companions grappling with mid-life dilemmas as they attempt to recreate their cherished film from their adolescence. However, instead of finding peace in the rainforest, they encounter a struggle to survive against treacherous weather conditions, colossal serpents, and ruthless outlaws.
It’s uncertain which characters Black and Rudd will portray. One report suggests that Black might take on the role of a former director, a man who finds himself trapped in his job as a wedding videographer, while Rudd could play an actor who had a brief spell on a police show but is losing grip on his Hollywood aspirations. Contrarily, another report claims it’s the roles are reversed.
The project, initially conceived back in early 2023, has been a work-in-progress at the studio, undergoing numerous adjustments. The filmmaker and Columbia have been striving to strike an appropriate blend of tones by making multiple revisions.
As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that the dynamic duo, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form, through their production company Fully Formed, are bringing this exciting project to life. Notably, Form has recently secured a first-look deal with Sony’s Screen Gems division. Kevin Etten is joining forces as the co-writer, making this collaboration a promising one!
There’s a strong possibility that Sony’s Columbia division might revisit the jungle for another installment of “Anaconda.” The original film earned $136 million worldwide and swiftly became a cult classic. After the initial release, there were subsequent films, such as those in 2004 and another theatrical success. However, the series later shifted towards B-movies, with two productions that aired on the Sci-Fi Channel, starring David Hasselhoff in 2008 and 2009.
The last time “Anaconda” was featured was back in 2015, when the terrifying franchise collaborated with the “Lake Placid” series focused on crocodiles for a humorous horror film titled “Lake Placid vs Anaconda“. In this movie, Yanby Butler and Robert Englund took on the leading roles.
Recently, Black has graced movie screens with his voice talent in ‘Borderlands’, ‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ and ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’. He will also lead the cast in the upcoming ‘Minecraft’ film produced by Warner Bros. This accomplished actor, who collaborated with Sony on the successful ‘Jumanji’ series, is represented by Sloane Offer.
Lastly, Rudd appeared on the big screen with Sony’s “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire”. Coming up next for him are the A24 movie titled “Death of a Unicorn” and John Carney’s latest music-centric drama “Power Ballad“. His representation includes UTA and Lighthouse Management.
Apart from penning and helming the film “Massive Talent,” whose screenplay made it onto the Black List, Gormican has also contributed to the script for the latest “Beverly Hills Cop” movie titled “Axel F.” He is represented by Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and 3 Arts Entertainment.
