Jacob Tierney is overseeing a television interpretation of Rachel Reid’s gay hockey romance novel titled “Heated Rivalry” for the streaming platform, Crave.
Veteran actor and filmmaker Tierney is currently filming a six-episode series in southern Ontario. Hudson Williams takes on the character of hockey legend Shane Hollander from the Montreal Voyageurs, while Connor Storrie portrays Ilya Rozanov, captain of the Boston Bears.
(In this version, I’ve tried to simplify the sentence structure and make it more conversational.)
Their relationship started as a clandestine romance between two uncertain teenagers at 17, which grew into an extended odyssey of love, self-discovery, and denial over eight years. As they strive for victory on the ice, they grapple with their emotions off it. Caught between their passion for hockey and the love they can’t dismiss, Shane and Ilya must determine if their fiercely competitive realm has room for something as delicate – yet potent – as genuine affection.
François Arnaud, Robbie G.K., Sophie Nélisse, Dylan Walsh, Christina Chang, and Ksenia Daniela Kharlamova make up the main cast of the show. The series is produced by Accent Aigu Entertainment, managed by Tierney and Brendan Brady.
From the very start, I found myself captivated by Heated Rivalry. At its essence, it’s a heartfelt love story featuring characters that are genuinely authentic and remarkably human. Hudson and Connor skillfully breathe life into Shane and Ilya, creating a connection with readers through their portrayal of the book’s intense heart, passion, and chemistry. This series embodies what we envisioned when we launched Accent Agui: bold storytelling with universal appeal. We can’t wait to share it on screen.” – Tierney expressed in his statement.
Apart from overseeing episodes of Letterkenny and Shoresy, Tierney also creates and directs movies, and in addition to that, he has acted in Xavier Dolan’s film “Laurence Anyways.” Other works credited to him are “This Is My Father” and “Poor White Trash.” Additionally, Tierney has directed and written “Good Neighbors,” which debuted at TIFF, as well as “Preggoland” and “The Trotsky.
The series titled “Heated Rivalry” is overseen by executive producers Tierney and Brady. Additionally, Rachel Reid takes on the role of Consulting Producer. The distribution rights for this show internationally are managed by Bell Media.
Each of the individuals – Williams, Storrie, Marina Masowietsky, Arnaud, Robbie G.K., and Nélisse – are managed by different talent agencies. Specifically, Williams is with RED Management, Storrie is associated with Sovereign Talent Group, Marina Masowietsky’s representation isn’t specified in the given information, Arnaud is represented by IAG and Anonymous Content, Robbie G.K. is handled by The Talent House, and Nélisse is under CAA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
As a gamer, I’m associated with different talent agencies: IAG and Bob McGowan represent me, Walsh is under Strand Entertainment and Bob Chang, Kharlamova is managed by Hero Artists and Brave Artists Management, Tierney is handled by CAA, 3 Arts, and GGA, and Accent Aigu Entertainment is repped by CAA as well.
