As a seasoned observer of Bollywood and its intriguing characters, I find myself both amused and bewildered by the latest turn of events involving Sukesh Chandrashekhar. Here we have a man who is currently residing in one of India’s largest prisons, yet he continues to dream big, aiming for major stakes in Karan Johar’s production house – Dharma Productions.
Sukesh Chandrashekhar became a popular figure ever since he expressed his heartfelt love for actress Jacqueline Fernandez. Even though he is currently in prison for his alleged involvement in a Rs 200 crore money laundering case, he keeps sending letters, sometimes addressed to his lady love, from the prison. In his recent letter, the conman penned about his intention to buy major stakes in Kara Johar’s Dharma Production.
As stated in an article from Hindustan Times, while incarcerated at Tihar jail in Delhi, Sukesh Chandrashekhar conveyed his intention to purchase a significant share (approximately 50-70%) of Karan Johar’s film production company, Dharma Productions. This intent was expressed in a three-page letter sent via the legal firm Anantam Legal. Addressing Karan Johar directly, the letter, shared by Sukesh’s public relations team with the publication, stated, “This is an expression of interest to acquire a substantial portion of ownership in your company, Dharma Productions.
In a letter penned down, it was revealed that he had been informed by his financial consultant about Dharma Productions’ pursuit of investment. Since no agreements were reached, he chose to continue negotiations. Furthermore, Sukesh expressed in the correspondence, “For me, movies aren’t merely transactions; they are a deep-rooted passion and emotion, as I am an avid film enthusiast.” He also shared that despite being written from within Asia’s largest prison, it may seem unconventional. However, he believes, “remarkable and beautiful things often emerge from extraordinary circumstances, locations, and individuals,” addressing the director of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani.
Moving forward, the lengthy message further revealed that Sukesh and his kin are avid admirers of Dharma Productions, deeply appreciating the remarkable individual KJo is, and “significantly”, Jacqueline Fernandez holds immense esteem for you. Consequently, it would be a distinguished opportunity and honor for them to invest in your company and join your family’s ranks. In the proposal, it was also disclosed that negotiations will not be entertained and the deal, conducted in cash, will be completed within a span of 48 hours.
Previously, rumors circulated about me, as a lifestyle expert, being privy to the exciting news that the CEO of Serum Institute of India, Adar Poonawalla, is planning to acquire a substantial 50% share in Karan Johar’s esteemed company, valued at an impressive Rs 1000 crore.
