Jake Paul-Mike Tyson Fight Live Blog: B**** Slaps and ‘Squid Games’

As a gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must say, this Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson boxing match is like leveling up in a game of life. The anticipation has been building for months and now it’s finally time to hit “play.

Ladies and gentlemen: Are you ready to rumble?!

Unfortunately, despite the setback – we’re moving forward regardless. Exactly a year after its announcement, and after a temporary halt in July due to health issues (stomach ulcers), Jake Paul and Mike Tyson will square off this coming Friday night for what promises to be one of the most highly anticipated events in sports history.

The unusual encounter between Paul, a 27-year-old ex-YouTube sensation, and Tyson, a 58-year-old legendary heavyweight champion with his iconic Gen X video game, is hard to overlook – it signifies a significant stride in Netflix’s live-streaming goals.

According to Most Valuable Promotions’ claims, this upcoming fight could break all records for the most viewed in history. Nevertheless, Netflix hasn’t shared any projected viewer numbers. Paul himself anticipates that around 25 million viewers will tune in.

Even before a single punch was thrown, this fight was already one of the most controversial, criticized, and ridiculed bouts ever staged. This is largely due to Paul, a previous YouTube personality, who thrives on his image as the “Troublemaker” in sports – an arrogant, spiteful rich kid with no legitimate place in a field where he doesn’t belong.

I’m leaning strongly towards Paul in this matchup, considering his impressive age advantage of 31 years. Some fans are concerned that this could potentially lead to a serious injury for Tyson.

However, some believe that Tyson’s passion and determination are still very much alive, and he intends to fulfill his promise of defeating Paul. Many spectators are undoubtedly eager to see this unfold. The day started with a tense moment at the weigh-in, when Tyson slapped Paul after Paul accidentally stepped on Tyson’s feet. Paul’s representative claims it was an accident, but Tyson doubts this version of events.

Tyson later remarked, “At the time, I was only wearing socks while he had shoes on. He accidentally stepped on my toe, but given his character, I can’t help but suspect it might have been intentional. The pain was intense. In response, I felt compelled to do something.

The primary event commenced at 5 p.m. Eastern Time, streaming live from AT&T Stadium in Arlington. There, the question was posed: “Which one will emerge as the top dog: The influencer or the icon?” I’ll be keeping track of tonight’s happenings and regularly updating this live blog as things unfold. Having had a recent encounter with Paul at his training facility in Puerto Rico for a Hollywood Reporter feature, I offer a unique, behind-the-scenes perspective on the events – not to mention, I’m stocked up on free samples of W by Jake Paul, the body spray endorsed by champions.

So stick around — and like W by Jake Paul, keep refreshing!

6:52 PM Pacific Time: It appears there’s some discussion online regarding whether Rosie Perez has a star on the Walk of Fame. From our findings, it seems that she does not possess one.

6:44 p.m. Pacific Time: The allusions to Hollywood are coming thick and fast! Seated among the spectators are none other than Ralph Macchio and William Zabka, who just happen to star together in the Netflix series “Cobra Kai”. It so happens that Macchio is set to receive a star on the Walk of Fame on November 20, movingly placed next to his late co-star from “The Karate Kid”, Pat Morita. One of tonight’s commentators is Rosie Perez; this actress is an avid boxing fan and even practices it herself. She also recently interviewed Tyson for the magazine “Interview”, where Tyson revealed that he had smoked poisonous toad venom. Why? Well, why not!

6:24 p.m. Pacific Time: Paul and Tyson have made their entrance into the building! The fight is about to begin. Paul looks dashing in a striking purple suit that would make Prince envious. He’s generously applying W by Jake Paul, making him appear quite similar to me. His girlfriend, the speed skater Jutta Leerdam, aged 25, is by his side. Upon arrival, there was an unexpected silence; however, Tyson confidently strides in wearing a custom leather jacket that reflects his career achievements. It’s reminiscent of the infamous 8-ball jacket from the New York subway incident – so it’s a clever nod to his past. His entrance was greeted with applause and cheers. Without a doubt, there seems to be a clear favorite.

6:13 p.m. Pacific Time greetings! We’re live at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, deep into the second match of the main event. Netflix isn’t wasting any time leveraging this massive promotion – their Pink Soldiers are stationed ringside, a nod to their upcoming series “Squid Game” (premiering December 26). Interestingly, they’ve also made it onto the cover of The Hollywood Reporter. During the break between the first fight (Neeraj Goyat vs. WHindersson Nunes) and the current one (Mario Barrios vs. Abel Ramos), former heavyweight champions Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield stopped by the commentary desk. Both appeared hesitant to predict the outcome, though Lennox suggested Tyson is fighting “for money” and may have taken on more than he can handle. In response, lead analyst Andre Ward quipped, “No pun intended.” (Tyson infamously bit a piece of Holyfield’s ear in 1996.) Ouch!
