As a longtime DC Comics fan who has followed the development of the DC Universe since its inception, I can confidently say that the rumors surrounding the delay of “The Brave and the Bold” have been greatly exaggerated. James Gunn, one of the masterminds behind the revitalization of the DCU, has repeatedly assured us that the film is on track, and I trust his word implicitly.
In my opinion, Gunn’s experience in the industry speaks volumes about the legitimacy of his statements. With a successful track record of projects such as “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “The Suicide Squad,” he has proven himself to be a reliable and innovative force in the world of comic book adaptations. His ability to bring complex, compelling stories to life on screen is unparalleled, and I have no doubt that “The Brave and the Bold” will be no exception.
It’s important to remember that the DCU is a massive undertaking, with numerous projects in various stages of development. It’s natural for there to be some confusion and speculation about release dates, but at the end of the day, I believe that James Gunn and his team have a clear vision for the future of the DCU, and they will not be deterred by false rumors or misinformation.
So, while it’s fun to engage in discussions about the intricacies of the DCU, I encourage everyone to take any rumors of delays with a grain of salt and wait patiently for official announcements from the DC Studios. And as always, remember that superheroes never truly die – they just have to fight their way out of whatever messy plot twists the writers throw at them!
James Gunn, co-head of DC Studios, has dispelled rumors suggesting delays in the release of the Batman film titled “The Brave and the Bold” within the DC Universe (DCU). The DCU is currently active, with its launch marked by a soft debut of “Creature Commandos”. This will be followed by “Superman” in summer 2025.
James Gunn unveiled a lineup of upcoming projects for DC’s Chapter 1 – Gods and Monsters, which includes titles like “Lanterns” and “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow”, both scheduled for 2026. Despite this announcement, there appears to be no recent news regarding “The Brave and the Bold”. This has led some fans to speculate about potential delays. However, Gunn’s statement implies that these rumors may not be entirely accurate.
On BlueSky, a user claimed that “The Brave and the Bold” had been delayed. In response, James Gunn clarified that there was no delay with the project, as he wasn’t aware of what the user was referring to. Regarding “The Batman – Part II,” some users alleged that director Matt Reeves lied about the script being nearly completed and his intention to start filming in 2025. Gunn defended Reeves by explaining that “completing” the script and having it finished are distinct concepts, stating that Reeves didn’t lie; instead, he was indicating that the script was still being worked on (not yet fully completed).
Speculations about a delay in the release of The Brave and the Bold were sparked by a recent interview with its director, Andy Muschietti, mentioning his intention to work on a personal project before returning to “The Batman project, which has been pushed back slightly.” The rumored delay of Brave and the Bold aligned with the announcement that Matt Reeves’s second film in the The Batman series, originally scheduled for October 2026, was moved to October 2027. This development, coupled with Muschietti’s statement, fueled speculation that James Gunn might abandon The Brave and the Bold and incorporate Robert Pattinson’s Batman into the DCU. However, these rumors have been consistently denied by Gunn himself.
‘The Brave and the Bold’ is Still On Track, Despite the Rumors
A) The Brave and the Bold hasn’t been delayed so I’m not sure what you’re talking about. B) Matt didn’t lie. He said they were finishing the script (i.e. he’s not finished.)

As a dedicated fan, I wholeheartedly agree with Gunn’s stance on the matter. The fact is, unlike other movies, The Brave and The Bold hasn’t been assigned an official release date because it was only announced as being in development, much like many films. However, unlike others, Gunn has yet to disclose a release date for this movie, although rumors suggest a potential 2027 launch.
From the start, Gunn has made it clear that no DC movie will commence filming or be given a release date until the scripts are fully prepared. It’s intriguing, though, to note that while The Brave and The Bold doesn’t have a set release date, there are two Batman-related films scheduled in the DCU schedule.
As a lifelong fan of Batman and his iconic rogue gallery, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming slate of DC films announced by Warner Bros. It’s clear that they are committed to expanding the universe and providing us with fresh takes on classic characters. The upcoming movie “Clayface,” penned by Mike Flanagan, is a particularly exciting development for me, given my fondness for his previous work in horror and superhero genres.
The introduction of Damian Wayne as Robin in “The Brave and the Bold” is also intriguing, especially since I have always been fascinated by the various interpretations of the character throughout the years. However, I do find it interesting that we will see a separate animated film focusing on Dick Grayson and Jason Todd versions of Robin titled “Dynamic Duo,” set for release in 2028.
The delay in the sequel to “The Batman” does raise some questions about how Warner Bros. will manage their scheduling, as it seems unlikely that they would release two separate Batman films in the same year. If “The Brave and the Bold” is not ready for 2026, I believe it may be pushed back to 2028 or even 2029, given that a Robin film is already scheduled for 2028.
All in all, as a fan who has grown up with these characters and seen numerous adaptations over the years, I am eagerly anticipating each new project and looking forward to seeing how they will be brought to life by talented creators like Mike Flanagan. The future of DC films looks bright, and I can’t wait to see where these stories take us next!
