The executive at DC Studios clarified that while Gunn had previously mentioned this year that the events of season 1 wouldn’t count in the new DC Universe continuity, season 2 would align instead. In response to a user’s query about whether the second season would follow directly from the first or display significant changes to reflect its non-canon status, the co-chief elaborated on the sequence of events.

Previously, Gunn announced that the second season of Peacemaker will follow after the Superman film’s new beginning.
