As a lifelong fan of the DC universe and someone who has been eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new Superman film that truly does justice to the character, I must say that my heart skipped a beat when I saw the first teaser poster for James Gunn’s upcoming reboot. The poster, featuring David Corenswet in all his glory as Superman, is nothing short of breathtaking and instantly evokes the iconic imagery that has defined the Man of Steel for generations.
At long last, the first trailer for James Gunn’s Superman movie has officially been given a release date, along with an enticing poster that hints at its music score. In this new iteration of the Man of Steel, David Corenswet will take on the lead role. With James Gunn swapping his Marvel accessories for a completely fresh cinematic world, this Superman film marks the beginning of the DCU. The movie is scheduled to soar into theaters on July 11, 2025.
The first teaser poster (see below) for Superman was posted by Gunn along with a tease of the film’s musical score, which is already very different from his previous works. It features Corenswet flying straight up into the air, showing off his comic-accurate suit and iconic red tights. While the press get their first look at the film today, Gunn confirmed that the teaser trailer will be released online publicly this Thursday. It’s an exciting time to be a DC fan, and although Superman has an entire universe riding on it, the Man of Steel would not have it any other way.
Beyond Corenswet, the film Superman features Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, who is the main antagonist. While primarily centered on the Kryptonian superhero, this movie also introduces a multitude of fresh heroes and villains from the revamped DC Universe. The supporting cast of Superman comprises María Gabriela De Faría (Engineer), Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific), Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner/Green Lantern), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), Anthony Carrigan (Metamorpho), Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher), Pruitt Taylor Vince (Jonathan Kent), Wendell Pierce (Perry White), Beck Bennett (Steve Lombard), and Sean Gunn (Maxwell Lord).
