James Gunn’s Superman Trailer Unleashes Epic DCU Reboot

At CinemaCon, eyes were fixed on the heavens as a prolonged glimpse of Superman was unveiled! The emergence of this Steel Man heralds the initiation of the DC Universe, with James Gunn’s remake now offering us a second thrilling trailer for the upcoming comic book film. Titled Superman, this production is penned and directed by James Gunn, featuring David Corenswet (from Twisters and Hollywood) in the dual roles of Superman and Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult (known for his roles in the X-Men movies and Juror #2) as Lex Luthor.

In addition to Superman, this upcoming production will showcase a variety of characters from the DC universe. For instance, Edi Gathegi known for his roles in “For All Mankind” is cast as Michael Holt/Mister Terrific. Anthony Carrigan recognized from shows like “Barry” and “Gotham” plays Rex Mason/Metamorpho. Nathan Fillion, famous for the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films and “The Suicide Squad,” takes on Guy Gardner/Green Lantern. Isabela Merced, star of “Alien: Romulus,” becomes Hawkgirl. And let’s not forget Krypto the Superdog.

Joining them are Skyler Gisondo (from “Licorice Pizza” and “Booksmart”), Sara Sampaio (“At Midnight”), María Gabriela de Faría (“The Moodys”), Wendell Pierce (“Selma,” “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan”), Alan Tudyk (“Creature Commandos,” “Andor”), Pruitt Taylor Vince (“Bird Box”) and Neva Howell (“Greedy People”).

The first feature film from DC Studios featuring Superman is about to fly into cinemas worldwide this summer, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. In a unique approach, director James Gunn reinterprets the classic superhero within a fresh DC universe, combining thrilling action, humor, and emotional depth. This new portrayal of Superman showcases his compassionate nature and unwavering faith in human kindness.

‘Superman’ Will Fly Into Theaters on July 11, 2025

As a dedicated movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled about the upcoming big-screen debut of Superman, kickstarting the DCU. However, the small screen has been buzzing with the DC franchise already, through the HBO Max animated series, Creature Commandos, which offers a fresh take on the DC Universe.

Much like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, DC Studios’ co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran have an exciting lineup of projects in development. These include Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, a movie featuring Clayface, The Brave and the Bold, Swamp Thing, and a Teen Titans adventure, to name just a few.

The upcoming appearance of Superman carries significant weight, and actor David Corenswet is well aware of this responsibility. Despite feeling the pressure to deliver an outstanding performance as the latest Man of Steel, following Henry Cavill’s contentious portrayal in the SnyderVerse, Corenswet remains composed. His focus is on giving his best for the director, the crew, and his fellow cast members who have put in countless hours of hard work over months or even years on this highly anticipated production. By doing so, he believes he will have done everything within his power to meet their expectations.

The action-packed film featuring Superman is set to debut in cinemas on July 11, 2025, marking the beginning of the DCU’s “Chapter One: Gods and Monsters”.
