James Harden Nods to His Alma Mater With the adidas Harden Vol. 9 “Sun Devils”

The line of basketball shoes designed by James Harden in collaboration with adidas Basketball has contributed significantly to the revival of performance shoes that have an outer layer and inner bootie design. This trend was initially set by the Adidas Harden Vol. 7, which showcased a unique puffer jacket-inspired construction. Subsequently, Anthony Edwards’ adidas AE1 took this concept further into the future, and more recently, Donovan Mitchell unveiled his latest design, the adidas D.O.N. Issue #7, with its own zip-up cover.

For nearly a few years now, the Harden Vol. 7 initially introduced a unique style, and the Harden Vol. 9 continues this trend with its streamlined design and neoprene bootie. James Harden has been sporting these shoes since their launch, and he was recently seen wearing a fresh “Sun Devils” colorway, which pays tribute to his alma mater – Arizona State University. This new design cleverly incorporates the school’s maroon and yellow hues, creating an appealing overall look that is further accentuated by the university’s athletics pitchfork logo on the tongue.

As I’m typing this, neither James Harden nor adidas have given a definitive answer about the public release of the “Sun Devils” version of the Harden Vol. 9 sneakers. Keep an eye out for news as we anticipate a variety of colorways of this new design to hit the market this year, priced around $160 USD, available through adidas and select retailers.
