James Marsden Joins Jon Hamm in Season 2 of ‘Your Friends & Neighbors’—Here’s What to Expect!

Actor James Marsden is heading towards the wealthy neighborhood of Westmont Village for the series “Your Friends & Neighbors,” which Jon Hamm leads. As per Deadline, Marsden will be taking on a recurring role and is likely to play a character who is financially well-off and has a romantic involvement with Samantha, portrayed by Olivia Munn.

In my perspective, I find myself drawn to a captivating dark comedy where I, Andrew “Coop” Cooper, an ex-hedge fund manager (recently let go), venture into illicit activities to preserve my social standing and family’s well-being. As I swipe from the affluent residents of this town, I uncover a web of deceit lurking beneath its glossy facade. Fresh out of a divorce, I find myself in a complex relationship with Samantha, portrayed by Olivia Munn, who yearns for something more profound. Most recently, you might recognize me as Cal Bradford from Hulu’s Paradise, but it appears my return to that series may not happen, given the conclusion of my character’s storyline.

Besides “Your Friends & Neighbors,” Marsden has a number of upcoming projects. He’s been confirmed to join the cast for Marvel Cinematic Universe’s “Avengers: Doomsday,” where he’ll once again play Scott Summers / Cyclops, a role he made famous in the X-Men series from 2000 to 2014. The highly anticipated movie will also bring back Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, and Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler. These characters, who were previously part of the Fox “X-Men” universe, are now moving to the MCU via a multiverse concept. “Avengers: Doomsday” is scheduled for a cinema release in May 2026. Additionally, Marsden will appear in the buddy action comedy “Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice,” alongside Vince Vaughn and Eiza González.

James Marsden: From Westworld to Westmont Village

I, Marsden, embarked on my acting journey in television during the ’90s, laying the groundwork for a diverse film career. Some of the films that showcase my versatility include “The Notebook,” “Superman Returns,” “Enchanted,” and the “Sonic the Hedgehog” series. My small-screen performances have garnered recognition, particularly on shows like “Westworld” and Netflix’s “Dead to Me.” Recently, I was honored with Golden Globe and Emmy nominations for my role in the comedic series “Jury Duty,” presented in a mockumentary style.

The series “Your Friends & Neighbors” was developed by Jonathan Tropper, who also assumes the roles of showrunner and executive producer, joined by Hamm, Connie Tavel, and Craig Gillespie. The initial season debuted on April 11 with a double episode, with subsequent episodes airing every Friday exclusively on Apple TV+. Notably, “Your Friends & Neighbors” received a renewal for a second season even before its premiere. Alongside Hamm and Munn, the series stars Amanda Peet, Olivia Munn, Hoon Lee, Mark Tallman, Lena Hall, Aimee Carrero, Eunice Bae, Isabel Gravitt, and Donovan Colan.

Taking note of Marsden’s impressive performances on television, he would be an excellent fit for the show “Your Friends & Neighbors“, which has received widespread praise from critics. The series boasts a high approval rating of 83% on Rotten Tomatoes, with many viewers drawing parallels between Hamm’s character, Coop, and his iconic role as the charming Don Draper on “Mad Men“.
