Jamie Dornan’s Pal Just Told Him About The ‘Opera Bath’ Phenomenon, And It’s Something I Could Totally See Happening In Fifty Shades Of Grey

As a longtime fan of Jamie Dornan’s work, it’s always fascinating to delve deeper into his personal life and habits, especially when they intersect with his on-screen characters. His recent revelation about the “opera bath” routine has certainly piqued my curiosity!

The movie “Fifty Shades of Grey” has long been known for its adult content on Netflix, and if it’s been a while since you last watched, here’s a friendly reminder: there are numerous sex scenes set in various locations throughout the three films. For instance, in the Red Room or the bathtub. So, when Jamie Dornan recently shared his unique bathing ritual, it immediately brought to mind, “it feels like ‘Fifty Shades’ all over again.

According to Jamie Dornan, the best way to unwind after a long day of shooting is what he calls an “opera bath.” This involves using some speakers for music, some bubble bath or suds, and perhaps a handful of M&Ms (or your preferred candy). As Jamie described it to Vogue, it seems like a fantastic method to relax.

One evening, a cherished friend of mine dropped by for dinner at our place, and on his departure, he mentioned he was planning an ‘opulent bath’ experience at home, and asked if I had ever tried it. Essentially, you fill the bathtub with lots of bubbles (since I love lavender), set up speakers to play opera music, perhaps add a small bottle of red wine and a bowl of M&Ms for good measure. I’ve given this a go a few times myself. It’s certainly indulgent and a bit over-the-top, but it’s something I enjoy when I’m working on film projects away from home, to keep my kids from disturbing me.

It’s interesting to note that, just under a year ago, Dakota Johnson, Dornan’s co-star, also expressed her fondness for baths. However, when it comes to Dornan, his ideas about enjoying a bath are a bit more extravagant compared to hers, who simply enjoys taking a bath whenever and wherever she can. I would describe his approach as both luxurious and elaborate, but there’s something appealing about setting aside time for self-care every now and then. If that means adding bubbles and a touch of singing, so be it.

In Fifty Shades, Christian Grey is shown bathing, but it’s important to mention that Jamie Dornan, who plays him, has also been seen enjoying such moments in public view on other occasions.

It’s been open about how filming the sex scenes for “Fifty Shades” wasn’t exactly a pleasant experience, so it might be assumed that after a lengthy day of shooting such scenes, Jamie Dornan would have found some relief in a warm bath or perhaps even applied ice cream to cool down (though that does seem like a smart move given the circumstances). However, it appears that this idea of an “opera bath” may have occurred to him later on, as the final two “Fifty Shades” movies were filmed consecutively, with filming wrapping up in April 2016 and the films being released in 2017 for “Darker” and 2018 for “Freed”.

Since then, much like myself, Dornan has expressed his reluctance to reprise the role of Christian Grey and instead has ventured into an intriguing array of roles for projects such as “Barb and Star go to Vista Del Mar,” “Wild Mountain Thyme” with its enigmatic finale, and the TV series “The Tourist.” His career path echoes that of Daniel Radcliffe post-“Harry Potter” or Robert Pattinson after “Twilight” came to an end. Although some aspects of his life may align with his most iconic character, his current trajectory couldn’t be more different, exploring uncharted territories in his craft.
