Jamie Lee Curtis Is “Grateful” for Lindsay Lohan as ‘Freakier Friday’ Filming Nears End: “My Ultimate Movie Daughter”

As a child of the 2000s who grew up watching the original Freaky Friday with my parents, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming sequel, Freakier Friday. The thought of Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan reuniting on the big screen after all these years is a dream come true!

Jamie Lee Curtis is getting sentimental as the end of filming for Freakier Friday nears.

The Oscar-winning actress posted on Instagram last Friday that she has just a few days remaining on set alongside her “dearest film child,” Lindsay Lohan, before they conclude shooting for the upcoming Disney sequel, scheduled for release in 2025.

As a gamer, I penned down on this Friday-turned-Cryday, “We’ve got a couple more days left next week, but the excitement is winding down.” Gathering at work to see hundreds of people getting ready for the fans, filming the movie in California, has made me feel incredibly thankful. I couldn’t have made this movie without my ultimate on-screen daughter, @lindsaylohan, who has been an essential part of our journey.

She mentioned that Lohan had given her a Suzie Kondo shirt after she praised Lohan’s, and she chose to wear it today as a tribute to her. Now off to wig and work. Thank you for all the love from @disneyd23! It was fantastic, truly legendary!

In “Freaky Friday: The Sequel,” Curtis and Lohan revisit their roles as Tess and Anna, characters who swapped bodies in the cherished 2003 film over two decades ago. This time around, Anna is a mother and soon-to-be stepmother, with a daughter and a stepdaughter of her own. As they struggle to blend their families, they discover that a similar magical event could happen again.

At D23 in Anaheim, California this month, not one but two actors shared the title of the sequel. During the Disney fan gathering, Curtis expressed to People magazine that the forthcoming movie is a heartfelt tribute to mothers and daughters.

Lohan commented, “It’s really heartwarming to observe three generations here. It’s touching to see how Anna seeks guidance from Tess. Yet, Tess still offers her insights. And interestingly, Anna has started to emulate Tess in many ways, which is a testament to the natural progression of life – children often take on characteristics of their parents.”

Chad Michael Murray, Mark Harmon, and newcomer Manny Jacinto will be part of the cast in the upcoming movie titled “Freakier Friday“.
