Jamie Lee Curtis Reacts to Freakier Friday Paparazzi Photo Leak

As a film enthusiast with decades of movie-going experiences under my belt, I must say that the upcoming sequel to the beloved classic “Freaky Friday” has me more than just a tad excited. The leaked photo of Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan on set is like a sweet taste of what’s to come next year.

2025 is eagerly awaiting the release of one of its most exciting films, titled “A New Freaky Week“. Despite minimal details about the storyline and no official trailer being available yet, a clandestine photograph of the film’s stars, Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, has been circulating online. The image captures the duo on the set of the anticipated sequel to “Freaky Friday“. This sneak peek has caused Curtis to voice her displeasure over such unauthorized leaks.

Curtis posted on Instagram expressing her thoughts on the photograph from their upcoming film that’s been spreading online. In her post, she mentioned how other media outlets sharing the picture actually works to their benefit. She explained that they’ve worked diligently to maintain a secret about their movie’s storyline until its release in theaters next year. Although the leaked photo doesn’t reveal any significant plot details, it does give away one crucial aspect regarding the film’s production.

“Alright. Since other media sources have shared a paparazzi photo, I’ll use this unexpected interruption during our filmmaking process. We’ve been working tirelessly to keep our story under wraps until its official release, but occasionally images like these emerge. They don’t reveal any plot details or character development, but they do give a glimpse into the excitement and camaraderie we experienced while making Freaky Friday.”

Later, she underlined the fact that the film would have a traditional cinema debut, which had initially been uncertain given how many Disney follow-ups were instead premiering on Disney+. She also noted:

“Next year, you’ll savor an unforgettable experience at the cinemas. Yes, I’m referring to those places where we gather to immerse ourselves in a shared tale, munching on popcorn and candy, sharing laughter and tears – all while enveloped in darkness. Until that moment arrives…”

Despite no details on the storyline being revealed thus far, Curtis recently praised co-star Lindsay Lohan as she announced the movie’s near completion last week. Following that announcement, filming has wrapped up with both Curtis and Lohan expressing their eagerness for the film’s release. Additionally, Lohan shared on Instagram her gratitude towards the cast, crew, and everyone involved in the project, noting how much joy she had during the production process, saying, “It’s been an amazing journey making this film.”

Announced back in 2023, production on this film began in June. The cast includes Curtis, Lohan, as well as returning stars such as Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao. New to the cast are Julia Butters, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and Sophia Hammons. Nisha Ganatra, known for her work on Late Night and The High Note, will direct the film, while Jordan Weiss, creator of Hulu series Dollface, handles the screenplay.

As a movie enthusiast, I can’t help but reminisce about my first encounter with the 2003 film “Freaky Friday,” a modern take on the 1976 classic with the same title. Starring Jodie Foster and Barbara Harris in the original, this hilarious tale was penned by Mary Rodgers in her 1972 novel. The remake was a massive box office hit, raking in $160.8 million on a mere $20 million budget.
