Jan Schwieterman, ‘Good Burger’ Actor, Dies at 52

It is with sadness that we report the passing of actor Jan Schwieterman, who played the antagonist Kurt Bozwell in the 1997 Nickelodeon film spinoff Good Burger. He was 52 years old.

On February 28th, Schwieterman passed away at Mercy Hospital located in Washington, Missouri, according to a statement made by his family. His brother, Chad, shared on Facebook that Schwieterman had recently received a diagnosis for an advanced and aggressive form of Stage 4 cancer.

In the film “Good Burger,” directed by Brian Robbins – a person who also co-created the Nickelodeon comedy series “All That” that served as its origin – Schwieterman portrayed Bozwell, the villainous proprietor and overseer of Mondo Burger, a fast food joint that competes with Good Burger where Dexter and Ed, played by Thompson and Mitchell, are employees.

Jan Patrick Schwieterman, who was born in Bluffton, Indiana on September 30, 1972, earned the rank of Eagle Scout before relocating to California shortly after high school to pursue an acting career. In 1994, he secured his initial roles on episodes of ABC’s show McKenna and NBC’s series ER.

After appearing on three installments of ABC’s Forever, he landed on Good Burger.

Schwieterman’s professional background also encompassed roles such as Lewis in four episodes of the first season (1998-99) of The WB series “Felicity,” and appearances in movies like “Warlock III: The End of Innocence” (1999), “American Intellectuals” (1999), “Fallen Arches” (2000), and finally, “Along the Way” (2007).

His family noted that he loved to travel and play Dungeons and Dragons

Apart from his brother, he also leaves behind his parents, Clara and LeeRoy, as well as his siblings, Megan and Vanessa. Contributions in his honor may be directed to the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
