Jared Leto and Jeff Bridges Debut Ominous, Laser-Filled ‘Tron: Ares’ Teaser at CinemaCon

At precisely 3 in the afternoon on Thursday, the lights dimmed inside the Colosseum, signaling the commencement of a remarkable event. In an instant, beams of blue, green, and red lasers illuminated the room from all directions, bathing the venue in radiant light. As the scene unfolded, Jared Leto and Jeff Bridges made their grand entrance from the stage’s side, there to discuss their upcoming movie, Tron: Ares.

Disney unveiled fresh glimpses of its upcoming blockbuster during their CinemaCon event at Caesars Palace. This movie is a continuation of the groundbreaking 1982 sci-fi film, “Tron,” and its 2010 sequel, “Tron: Legacy.” In this new installment, Jared Leto plays Ares, a digital character dispatched from the virtual world on a perilous quest to introduce artificial intelligence entities to our human realm.

To begin with, I was utterly captivated by the movie Tron as a child. It was the ’80s, and the future seemed so close it could almost be touched. Tron offered action, adventure, and plenty of spandex,” Leto explained. He went on to share that this universe transported him to a place he had never known before, leaving him yearning for more.”

“In my younger days, I was completely hooked on Tron. The ’80s were a time when the future felt like it was just about to arrive. With its action, adventure, and lots of spandex, Tron took me to an entirely new world that I couldn’t get enough of.”

Or:

“As a child in the ’80s, the future seemed imminent, and my fascination was with Tron. It delivered action, adventure, and loads of spandex, transporting me to an unseen universe that I couldn’t get enough of.

Regarding Ares’ character, Leto mentioned that he is a sophisticated digital entity embarking on a “life or death” quest to accomplish his purpose in our world. He found the movie-making process enjoyable, and Bridges chimed in, expressing that it delivers an extraordinary visual and auditory experience. “The music, it’s Nine Inch Nails,” he added, hinting at a memorable musical treat for the audience from the iconic band responsible for the film’s score.

As I eagerly awaited the footage to roll in, I shared my anticipation by saying, “If you share my affection for the original film as much as I do from my childhood days, it’s going to strike a chord deep within you – wherever that special place might be.

The scene begins with a bird’s-eye view of a bustling urban landscape, where motorcycles adorned with red lights speed along the highway, chased by a police car. Bursts of laser beams emanate from the bikes, causing a split in the vehicle. In voiceover, Ares muses, “I’m searching for something I can’t comprehend.” As the story unfolds, we see Ares awakening as a swarm of spaceships approach the city, causing panic among the residents, including a police officer portrayed by Lee. The video concludes with a voiceover from Bridges’ character, a video game designer, who ominously states, “There’s no turning back.

The movie “Tron: Ares” is directed by Joachim Ronning, who was also the director of “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil”. This film boasts an impressive cast that includes Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, and Gillian Anderson. The production team consists of Leto, Sean Bailey, Jeffrey Silver, Justin Springer, Emma Ludbrook, Steven Lisberger, with Russell Allen serving as executive producers. The script is written by Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne, based on characters created by Steven Lisberger and Bonnie MacBird.

Previously in autumn, Kevin Flynn’s character, played by Bridges, shared during a conversation with Rob Lowe on his podcast, that Leto immersed himself deeply into the character while filming, using a method acting approach.

I had never met him before. I asked, ‘What can I expect?’ because not only was he a producer of the show, but he had been a fan of the original for ten years and had worked on it for that long. When I arrived, I noticed that each set has a unique atmosphere. During my conversation with SiriusXM’s Literally! With Rob Lowe, I mentioned, ‘There was an unusual feeling here.’ I then inquired about Jared, and the response was, ‘He’s alright. By the way, we call him Ares, so he goes by that name.’ I found that intriguing.

Bridges explained, “In the series, his character was named Ares. One day, I casually said, ‘What’s up Air?’ and he agreed to it. From there, we became more relaxed, and our time together was simply amazing. We would play music, if you catch my drift?
