Jason Momoa, much like his Lobo character, revealed the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow screenplay in an authentic manner on social media, by puffing on a cigar near a blazing fire. As the new year progresses, the ex-DCEU’s Aquaman has his focus firmly on the future, with plans to collaborate with Milly Alcock, playing the Main Man, in the eagerly awaited Supergirl movie slated for 2026. Momoa shared this news while casually smoking a cigar and flipping through the script’s cover page in a recently posted video on Instagram.
BOOM Day 3 of 2025 I AM LOBO #letsfraggingo aloha j
Following his successful portrayal of Aquaman/Arthur Curry in the dissolved DCEU, it’s not too unexpected that Jason Momoa might assume the role of Lobo, also known as Czarnian, on the silver screen. Given the ongoing disintegration of the Snyderverse, Momoa shared his excitement about a clandestine meeting with the DC Studios heads, James Gunn and Peter Safran, back in January 2023.
In a recent clip shared on his Instagram story, Momoa hinted that he would stay involved with the DC Universe for another four years under the new leadership. While he didn’t explicitly confirm or deny if he’d continue portraying Aquaman, fans now have an answer. The actor also praised James Gunn and Peter Safran in the same video. According to Looper, Momoa stated:
I’ve received fantastic news connected to Warner Bros. – terrific updates that make me excited! Unfortunately, I can’t share it with you yet, but here’s what I can say: Peter [Safran], your work is admired. James [Gunn], your talent continues to inspire me. Here’s to the road ahead!
Could Jason Momoa Double Dip His Toes in a DCU Multiverse?
A few days following his formal declaration of joining Peter Safran and James Gunn’s DC Universe in 2023, Momoa discussed whether he would continue portraying Aquaman or switch to another character on the big screen in the future. Similar to his enigmatic Instagram post, Momoa was not overly communicative about this matter.
The actor hinted that he would forever be identified as the King of Atlantis, but it’s unclear if this was referring to the lasting impact of his role on fans as Aquaman, or if there might be a possibility for him to play both Arthur Curry and Lobo in a DC multiverse scenario as suggested by his use of informal language. Here is an excerpt from his interview with Variety:
“I’ll always be the King of Atlantis, but who knows what the future holds? Maybe I’ll get to play both Aquaman and Lobo in a DC multiverse situation.
“I’m currently working at Warner Bros., where they appreciate much of what I bring to the table. Exciting projects are on the horizon […] I’ll forever remain Aquaman. There’s no one else who can take that role away. Besides Aquaman, there might be other characters I get to play as well. While I enjoy playing the role of Aquaman, I can also showcase my comedic, fierce, and charming sides in other projects.
No matter what happens with Aquaman in the DC Universe, Jason Momoa has found his ideal role as Lobo. Yet, it may be wise for those in charge at DC Studios to ponder a universe where Momoa could again hold the iconic trident of Atlantis’ king.
In this rephrased version, I aimed to keep the meaning intact while making the language more conversational and easier to understand.
Since Christopher Reeve first put on the Superman suit in 1978, only four DC movies have surpassed the billion-dollar mark at the box office. Among these are films like The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, Joker, and more recently, Aquaman (2018) starring Jason Momoa.
