Jason Statham and Sylvester Stallone’s Expend4bles Break Streaming Records

The action star boasts several new film franchises that are rapidly gaining popularity, including “The Beekeeper,” which is set for a sequel, and “A Working Man,” both of which promise more installments featuring The Stath’s unique talents. Interestingly, one of his earliest franchises has faced some criticism with its latest release, but this hasn’t deterred viewers from watching at home. In fact, the over-the-top titled films have found success on streaming platforms.

In the Top 10 lineup on the streaming service, “The Expendables 4” is now grouped with titles such as the remake of Michael Mann’s “Miami Vice,” Henry Cavill’s action-packed war film “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare,” and the bear-centric adventure “Cocaine Bear.” For more information about “The Expendables 4,” you can read its official synopsis below.

In the high-octane sequel, Expend4bles, a fresh batch of action legends unite for a pulse-pounding journey! Once again, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, and Sylvester Stallone assemble their formidable team of mercenaries. For the very first time, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Megan Fox, Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, Jacob Scipio, Levy Tran, and Andy Garcia join the crew. With an arsenal of weapons at their disposal and the expertise to wield them, The Expendables are Earth’s final defense force – the go-to team when all other solutions have failed. However, the arrival of new members with innovative techniques will certainly breathe fresh life into the concept of “fresh blood.

Will ‘The Expendables 5’ Ever Happen?

Despite the impressive lineup of action stars in Expendables 4 (and the series as a whole), it’s surprising that it didn’t live up to expectations. Sylvester Stallone hands over the lead role to Jason Statham in the sequel, with The Transporter’s star even engaging in fights with martial arts legend Iko Uwais from The Raid. However, despite these promising elements, the film seems to fall short. This is a sentiment shared by critics, as Expendables 4 received a rating of only 14% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The critique states that even though Jason Statham delivered a strong performance and there were some decent action sequences, these aspects could not overcome Expendables 4‘ subpar action and noticeably low-budget visual effects. Although the audience seemed to appreciate more elements (scoring 70% on the Popcornmeter), unfortunately, few people went to see the movie in theaters. As a result, The Expendables 4 became the lowest-earning film in the series, bringing in only $51.1 million compared to its $100 million production budget.

Even though Jason Statham’s popularity continues to soar, there remains a glimmer of hope that “The Expendables” could return in a fifth installment. This is a dream that his fellow cast member, Randy Couture, seems to share, as the former UFC champion hinted at some discussions taking place behind the scenes. Interestingly, Couture mentioned that he’d love Guy Ritchie, director of “Wrath of Man,” to helm the project if it moves forward.

It seems there’s some buzz lately. You know, Statham has made quite a leap in his career over the past four years. I came across an article mentioning that he reached out to Guy Ritchie, who helped kickstart his career in the industry, about potentially directing an Expendables film. If it happens, it would be a major move, and Guy is incredibly talented.

In the upcoming movie “Mutiny,” directed by Jean-François Richet, Jason Statham will play the lead role. The film revolves around a character who finds himself on the run after his wealthy businessman boss is murdered. The release date for this thrilling adventure is set for January 9, 2026.
