As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for social nuances, I must say that Jaya Bachchan’s recent encounter with Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar is a fascinating study of personal identity and respectful address. With a life spanning decades of stardom and political influence, Madam Bachchan’s experiences offer us valuable insights into the intricacies of human interactions in high-profile settings.
A few days ago, veteran actress-politician Jaya Bachchan took offense when Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar referred to her as Amitabh Bachchan instead of using just her name. She became upset and told the Chairman that simply addressing her as Jaya Bachchan would suffice. However, in subsequent days, she herself used her husband’s name, causing amusement among those present. Today, August 5, Jaya Ji once again expressed her displeasure when the Chairman called out her full name. The Chairman then explained himself to her.
In a video posted by ANI on YouTube, Jaya Bachchan voiced objection once more when the Rajya Sabha Chairman, Jagdeep Dhankhar, referred to her by Amitabh Bachchan’s name within the House. Responding to this, she labeled it as a fresh act of drama unfolding in the Parliament.
She said, “Sir, let me clarify that I’m well aware of what ‘Amitabh’ signifies. To be clear, I take great pride in my marriage and my husband, yet I simply want to express that I am incredibly joyful and proud of my husband’s accomplishments.”
The seasoned actress-turned-Samajwadi Party member also remarked that this unfolding incident within the House is an unprecedented theatrical performance, something never seen before.
Upon inquiry, it was clarified that the election certificate can indeed be amended to display a different name.
Expressing great pride across the nation for Amitabh Bachchan’s remarkable accomplishment, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar noted, “Nonetheless, Jaya Ji, the name on your election certificate is significant, but it can be altered; there are procedures in place to facilitate this change.”
Following this, the SP MP raised a query as to why Minister Manohar Lal Khattar hadn’t included his wife’s name after his. In response, Khattar made a sarcastic comment saying, “As for my wife’s name appearing beside mine… that hasn’t happened in this lifetime (since Khattar is unmarried); you’ll have to wait until the next life for that.”
As a die-hard fan, I’m ecstatically recalling the moment when the enchanting Jaya Bachchan exchanged vows with the iconic Amitabh Bachchan. This formidable duo has graced us with their progeny – Abhishek Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan Nanda. Recently, I was thrilled to see Jaya Ji grace the screen once more in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, where she shared the limelight with the talented Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh.
